I am about 75% through Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.
QOTW: This is going to be a short (school starts earlier next year) and busy summer vacation. The kids and I will be traveling to the Midwest to visit family. Then the kids have a full schedule of swimming lessons and summer camps (sailing, karate, Readers camp- the kids get to meet children's authors and illustrators to learn about writing, story telling, etc.. I'm just as excited as the kids for this one.) My husband would also like to spend some time at the lake if we can find time..
I read A Treacherous Curse and A Dangerous Collaboration. 4* for both. I really love this series though the second book was weaker than the others. I can't wait for the last installment to come out.
QOTW: We cancelled our summer travel plans (there weren't many to begin with, just some long weekends away) because we're laser-focused on readying our condo for sale, moving into my parents' house temporarily, and then moving into our new townhouse sometime in August or September. It's going to be a lot of work with three cats and a baby involved, but I think we can do it!
Last night I finished My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. It was interesting and a short, easy read but I didn't love it. Starting Daughters of Smoke and Bone next.
QOTW: We leave for South Africa in two weeks for my 40th birthday. I'm not sure if that really counts as summer plans since it is winter there!

So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y’all Don’t Even Know by Retta (audio) - 4.
China Dolls by Lisa See (audio) - 4. I really enjoyed another audiobook by this author (Snowflower and the Secret Fan) so thought I'd give this a try. Really glad I listened to it. A lot of the goodreads reviews didn't like how it was written, but I though it fit the time period well and it wasn't as noticeable in the audio version. The narrator was excellent. The book is the story of 3 women and she has a different tone/volume/voice for each of them so you could easily tell them apart.
Aloha Rodeo: Three Hawaiian Cowboys, the World's Greatest Rodeo, and a Hidden History of the American West by David Wolman - 4. I knew nothing about this topic until this book. Great length- enough to explain everything, but didn't drag.
You Think It, I'll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld - 5. I always loves everything by her and this was probably my favorite book of short stories or essays that I've read in a long time (maybe ever?)
The Boys in the Cave: Deep Inside the Impossible Rescue in Thailand by Matt Gutman - 4.
QOTW: Lots of activities planned- lots of visits to family that we've looped in with vacations (Buffalo NY/Niagara Falls, Lancaster PA, Philadelphia PA and Orlando FL/Disney) plus DH and I will get a few days to go away by ourselves to Cedar Poin while the kids go to overnight camp.

I'm still chipping away at Family Pictures by Jane Green. I should just switch it shoudln't take me this long to get through 60%.
QOTW: I work full time year round so basically just work. We'll go to a beach for a couple of days in later August. Hopefully a couple of random days off with my husband in July, but nothing big, trying for a big vacation in Oct.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine: 5 stars Searching for Sunday by Rachel Held Evans: 5 stars I’m on a nice streak with picking great books.
QOTW: the kids have a lot of camps. Nothing very exciting.
These are two of the next ones on my list! Glad they were both great. I still can’t believe RHE passed away.
I am reading the last novel in Dean Koontz’ Jane Hawk series. They are great in terms of suspense and pacing, but they are pretty disturbing!
QOTW: We took our big family trip in May (Disneyland) and I have a trip with my mom in early fall (Scotland), so the summer is all about low-key fun this year! We made a bucket list of fun local places we want to go and activities we want to do.
Finished Trust Exercise by Susan Choi. This novel has so many layers I’m going to have to read it again. Definitely one of the best reads—possibly THE best—for me this year.
QOTW: I live in Maine; I’m going nowhere. We live for these three months.
