My weekend was awesome! I had one of my oldest friends in town for the weekend. Friday night after I picked her up at the airport we met another friend of mine and my parents at a wine place for dinner. After dinner we sat on my patio, listening to the ocean, and talking until really really late (or early depending on how you look at it).
Saturday we walked on the beach up to a beach bar/restaurant and had lunch and a glass of wine. Then we walked back and decided to hang out in the pool for a while. Later we got ready and headed to the wedding my friend was in town for. I got to be her plus one. The wedding was really beautiful and lots of fun.
Sunday we slept in and then went to meet my parents so my friend could spend some more time with them. We had lunch at their house and then went to a winery for a glass of wine. Later I drove her back to the airport.
It was such a great weekend and so so good to catch up with her.
Mine was a mix of go, go, go and then laziness. HAHAHA! Friday night I got together with 4 of my bff's that I have known since junior high. Two of us have birthdays a week apart so we were celebrating that. We all drank and danced our asses off all night but boy were we all paying for it come morning. We all joked and said "For Christ's sake, we are old enough to know better." LOL!
I had a grad party to attend on Saturday afternoon that was torture. I mean it was a nice party but when you are hung over as hell, standing around in 90 degree heat is not the best idea. I did rally though and made it to the Prince Dance Party at First Avenue on Saturday night. They do this every year on his birthday weekend since he passed and it is a total blast.
Sunday was a day of rest. I slept in, managed to shower around noon and then moved to the couch where I watched random crap in between my naps. HAHA
We got Penny’s biopsy results back and the mass was cancer. The good news is that it was low grade and removed with the surgery. We will just have to keep an eye on that same mammary duct now for any future reoccurrence.
Other than that, pretty lazy weekend. I made some cupcakes and took lots of naps. I am still running, just very slow and on the days I do I am basically spent for the rest of the day.
We go to the doctor on Friday to hopefully hear the heartbeat and make sure everything is going okay. Fingers crossed!
I'm a little worn out from this weekend but doing well! Friday I stayed at my old job late, packing some things up in my office. Saturday was my jazz recital and then spending time with my dad, who came down to watch. Yesterday was my tap recital and one of my friends surprised me about an hour and a half before the show by telling me she was coming! So we went out to eat afterwards and it was a really nice surprise.
I baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and biscotti this weekend. The tradition at my new job is that when it's someone's first day off training, they bring in food/treats for everyone. Sadly, I had issues with my biscotti so I'm not taking in as much as I wish I were and they're all crumbly, but hopefully people will still enjoy them. I made two batches of each, but burned the last pan of biscotti badly enough that they just needed to be thrown away. I think overall people will be happy with what I'm bringing in.
One more good thing from the weekend: my weight loss is noticeable to me now, too. I was looking at a photo from yesterday and damn! Granted, I also contoured my face, but still! It's a nice feeling.
I had a great weekend! I did a whole lot of nothing
I'm watching "When They See Us" ... I'm only one episode in, and I'm so angry! I don't care that they got compensation. This was a travesty. And you know it still happens today.
ugh...
ETA: So I switched to Handmaid's Tale ... and now I'm more angry.
I'm cynical. I don't expect anything but money to change the game. For either party. ...and I have no money...
Oh hey! I had a great weekend (and had this morning off, so I've only had to deal with half a Monday, really). I had lots of horsey time and some great success saddle shopping.
I did go grab coffee with M's friend's XGF on Saturday (if you can follow all that, lol). It was full of drama. M knew the pair of them were on the outs, and didn't think they were living together anymore, but it turns out that his friend has been cheating on the X for two entire years with someone from his gym, and the poor girl found out via an instagram message from someone she doesn't know (also a member of that gym, as is M, and he could put the pieces together once I gave him the scoop) and I feel terribly for her. I asked M if it puts him in a tough situation with his friend if I keep hanging out with the XGF, and he said nope and he's happy to join team XGF too, lol. So apparently this guy ended his 10 yr relationship by cheating and M's ready to cut their 12+ year friendship over it.
Then M and I checked out that new taco shop. They weren't "World's Best Tacos" or anything, but they are perfectly acceptable to phone in an order when we feel like not cooking. However, as we ate, we were still a bit shocked from the drama above, so we kept looking at each other and saying "TWO FREAKING YEARS!".
And I had this morning off, which was lovely. I just got a call to request I interview for a position next Monday, and I'm already torn about it. I'm thrilled and flattered that they want me and are aggressively recruiting me, but it's a full hour away with a route that is a long highway drive and prone to accidents. As much as my job sucks now, I don't want to trade sinking-company stress for long-commute stress, since I WFH and don't currently commute at all. However, I'm going to go, see if I like them, and then see if there's anything they can do to approve some work from home time and a BIG salary bump, if they decide they still want me. I have a former coworker who is now there, and he told me no worries, I can make it there in 35 minutes as long as I leave my house by 6am. LOLOLOL. The company does allow flex time, so I know he's working 7-3 for 9 days and is then off every other Friday. While I can see the appeal in that, I'm not sure I can get passed the 6am departure requirement.
Now I have to think of yet another reason to request a half day at work, since I really did take this morning off to be at the barn. But I took a half day last week, too, so I'm sure my boss thinks/knows I'm interviewing with me making a bunch of requests like this.
chalupa, That XGF story is wild. I think I'd be friends with her first. Also I did the jump for more money and "flexible" schedule. The job was not flexible and I ended up working more hours and was miserable. I think your apprehension is appropriate. Also 6am!
SwimDeep, I avoid shows like that because I get angry about it. Yesterday watching Jon Oliver about the ERA amendment that isn't signed because of one state not agreeing to it really pissed me off.
My weekend was awesome. I spent Friday afternoon buying a dress to a wedding, then I went to see my Dad on his Birthday. I bought him a canolli tart and balloons to celebrate. Saturday it rained all day so I did all my chores. Made some keto crackers and chilled. Sunday they opened up 9 miles of the city to only bikes, and people on foot. It was amazing. I had a boozie mai tai snowcone that was so good.
