We’re planning a trip to the DR the first week of September and don’t plan to cancel because of the recent news, but we totally neglected to consider the weather. Obviously that’s hurricane season and anything could happen, and we have trip insurance.
I’ve read that it’s also “rainy season” and I’m curious as to what that actually means. If you’ve been in late August/early September, what’s the weather like and how much did it rain during your trip? We’re going to La Romana, if that makes a difference.
I've been to St. Marteen in early September which is also their rainy season. We had gorgeous weather most of the time. We had a few pop up rain showers that made us hunker under an umbrella on the beach or we were in our hotel for the morning and waited it out. Depending on how much you are spending I would consider trip insurance, hurricanes do happen and I would hate to have to cancel and not recoup any of the money.
I haven't been to the DR at that time, but I have been to PR. I'm not sure you want to hear my response, but since you asked. We were there for three or four nights doing wedding planning tasks. I do remember it raining most of the time that we were there. I don't know if that is typical or not though.
