While I was just out for a walk with A, I saw a group of elementary school kids getting their picture taken in the park. I've only ever heard of the fake backgrounds for school portraits and didn't know some schools got fancy pictures with real trees and shit.
What was your school pictures like? And for those with older kids, is it the same now? I always got the lasers.

That sounds like it would result in much prettier pics. Ours were always a lame gray vignette.
In high school, we had our pics taken in the park for the yearbook. We were only a block away from Central Park so it was easy and fun to get out of the building for a while.

This was in Riverside. They had two "stations" with big light reflecting screens set up. I thought it was a magazine shoot from a distance.
My school did the fake backgrounds. However, the school I worked at did pictures outside in the playground and they were super cute. The traditional fake background is so gag.

Ours was definitely not that fancy. It was more like, "oh this tree looks nice. Sit under it."
