I’m bumping this...referral code for revel nails?[ And just so you're aware - to protect their employees they've reduced their inventory so they don't have the full amount of colors as usual. It's still a LOT to choose from, but not their full line.

Any chance you have another referral code?
I think you should be able to use that same link - let me know if it doesn’t work.
I’m still struggling with the cuticles, but I’m getting better!
I just did my first mani this week and that's my issue too. They're not bad for a first try but I think i know what to do better next time - I feel like I didn't put the base gel down as far as the powder stuck to, and a friend told me the powder sort of expands. So, next time I'm going to leave a little edge of no base gel towards the cuticles and then dip.
What colors did you get? I got the one dip wonders and Aloha - I thought aloha was going to be more coral and it's definitely similar to the color in the kit but oh well. I want to get one of the beach please colors - the sparkly blue. Also, i did one accent nail in glitter and it's the nail that looks the best.

Glitter and shimmery colors can oddly be more forgiving than solids - I think the shine just distracts from the imperfections that can seem more obvious in flat shades.
And yes - definitely leave a small gap between your cuticle and the dip. If you get too close immediately after you dip, go around the edge with a toothpick to take off the excess.

I bought two glitters and then a clear (which is supposed to help with the shine), and then a purple. The glitter is definitely easier.
I’ll try to leave a space for the cuticle next time. I think I do better when I do one hand at a time.

Are you doing all of your dips on the full nail? Doing 60% then 75% then 99% helps me to both stay away from the cuticle and reduce the amount I have to file at the cuticle. If that doesn’t make sense I’ll find a video explaining it.
I see that Revel's anniversary sale is going to be the week of 6-22. So, if anyone is looking to start or buy more colors, they will be having sales that week.
I got started on Revel about a year ago because of this thread and am embarrassed to even say how many colors I have now. LOL I do the gel method which is using gel liquids (bought off of Amazon) with the dip powder instead of the dip liquids. I use the base and topcoat. You do have to use an LED/UV light, but it's so much easier/faster and you don't have to work as fast to clean up the cuticle line because it doesn't cure until you put it under the light.
I also am trying Dipalicious peel off base coat this week. Hopefully it will just peel off without damage. At least they haven't fallen off on their own yet (did them on Sunday).

I have the UNT peel base but I haven’t been able to get them to stay on longer than an day, even if I don’t cover the whole nail 😢 Maybe I need to try a different brand

I had to soak UNT off unless I covered the whole nail and then they popped off the same day.
For the Dipalicious I watched the owner's how-to video and she did it differently than what I had done with UNT (so maybe the UNT would work for you if you use her method). She did one coat on 1/3 of her nail (the tip end), let it dry for a minute or so and then did one coat on 2/3 of her nail leaving the 1/3 bare by the cuticle end. She went all of the way to the edges along the side, except for the 1/3 that she didn't apply any at all.
I'm going to try to remove them either tomorrow or Sunday, so I'll find out for sure if this method works for me. I typically never have my dip pop off unless it's nearing 2 wks, so I'm not too hopeful that the peel off base will work for me. I have strong nails, but they tend to be dry.

I’m not quite sure I follow, are you saying when you do a dip, you just do the tip, file, and then repeat with the rest of the nail?

Also, you do 3 dips?
This is what I do but I only do 2 dips. I'll put the base coat on from the nail tip to about 65% of my nail, then dip in powder, then put another base coat on from the nail tip to about 95% of my nail (so not all the way to the cuticle), then dip in powder and file. (I don't remember if you are suppose to file in between dips, it's been awhile.) I find that by not dipping all the way to the cuticle helps with it not lifting as quickly.

When I was getting it professionally done, they did the same as cc111. Liquid to about 3/4 of the nail then dip and then about 95% and dip. If need be, do it one more time (depending on the colour).

When my nails are short I do 3 dips, when they’re long I usually do 4. If I do any fewer than that I have issues with them cracking/chipping.
And when I do those dips I just don’t do the full nail for each one - always do the tip and work your way up to the cuticle. It helps to keep you from having a thick cuticle area that you have to file down. Like this:
Thanks to this post/thread, I am now frantically trying to decide what I NEED to buy! So nice to hear everyone's recs!
For dip you would just need a dip powder, base/activator/top coat liquids (some brands combine step 1 & 3, and some have a step 0 essentially that is a prep/dehydrator), a rough file, a smoother file and a buffer block.

I’m getting better. The chunky glitter was hard. (Also don’t mind my old lady hands...they’ve always looked this this and my family has teased me! Lol)

Those look great - what color is it? Chunky glitter is such a pain but I love it.

Here’s my right, which is much harder lol: I also dip in clear at the end with glitter, and I think it helps. I need tweezers to move some of the bigger pieces when I dip.
Thanks to this thread I joined a bunch of at home dip groups on FB, and ordered a ton of stuff. I’m excited for my stuff to come in! I love doing my nails, but nail polish usually only lasts a day or two on me before chipping so I hope this works better.
I’ll recommend ManiMe for home gel manis. I’m barely coordinated enough to paint my own nails and this company uses your phone’s camera to take a 3D scan of your nails and then prints a sheet of gel nail stick ons based on the scan. I’m on my 3rd set and will probably never do anything else again. It’s so easy and quick and when you’re done, you just peel them off - no remover needed and no damage. I can usually get 3 weeks out of a set. To put them on all you do is wipe down the nails with an alcohol wipe, stick it on, and file off the end. They send the wipes and files with each set. Couldn’t be easier.

Jalapeñomel - I ordered 3 sets for $36. I prefer the solid colors which are a bit cheaper. And I had a coupon code. Compared to $40/ visit at a salon, it’s much cheaper for me. And required no skill. 😂

Someone else needs to post their Revel referral link! Enough people from here have ordered and I have more points than I’ll need for a while, so I’m trying to delete mine
