My H has recently started discovering how fantastic spas can be. So I want to look around to find a few options for long weekends at some point. No concrete date, I'm just trying to have a list in my back pocket for when we have time.
I'm looking for hotels that have hot tubs or fancy relaxing pools or other shared spa features for all genders to hang out. E.g. at the Fairmont in Banff, the saunas and steam rooms were separated by gender, but there was this covered co-ed indoor spa pool area that had a series of pools of different temperatures. The spa pool area was only accessible to people who paid to use the spa, it was not just open to all hotel guests. This set up was great because by allowing us a spa space to hang out together, we got more use out of all the spa facilities.
To be clear, I am not looking for hotels with good all purpose pools. I'm just looking for a place where I can enter a spa with my husband, go to a locker room, and then exit into some kind of space to hang out with him that's not the spa waiting room or lounge.
JW Marriott in Marco Island, FL has a spa pool area where anyone who had spa services can go. Met up with my husband at the pool after our massages. It is outdoor, but seperate from the regular hotel pools.
The St. Regis Aspen has the setup you’re describing. The saunas, steam rooms, cold dunk pools are separated by gender but there is a coed pool with waterfalls as well as an oxygen lounge with comfy chairs and blankets. All of that is for spa guests only, but the hotel pool and hot tubs are wonderful as well.
Spa Nordik in Gatineau Quebec. Easily paired with a trip to Ottawa (hey! We have amazing museums!) or Montreal.
This looks so, so good. Montreal is on the short list for a trip next year. And I believe you on the Ottawa museums - I went National Gallery in Ottawa about 20 years ago, and would love to go back!!!

omg this place looks freaking amazing. have you actually been there?
Google maps is showing me that this is about two hours from Montreal or really close from Ottawa. Is the drive from Montreal to this place an easy one? I know nothing about Canada.

i want to live in the spa.
I have been several times. I’m in Ottawa so it’s a short drive and a real treat to have locally.
From Montreal it would be a two hour drive so more of a full day trip. That being said there are a lot of beautiful small places to stay in the Chelsea/Wakefield area overnight.
Everyone also generally skips visiting Ottawa but it is a fantastic little city in its own right - we have amazing museums (Museum of History, Museum of Nature, National Art Gallery) and an excellent food scene. We also have lots of food and music festivals and events throughout the Spring/Summer/Fall.
if i get a job offer soon we a looking for a nice quick getaway. We did a mexico all inclusive for Christmas. I want to relax and chill out again but it seems to close to do another beach vacation so fast. We thought about Iceland to do the Blue Lagoon but this looks closer and hey maybe I can run into my boyfriend Justin.

The drive from Montreal isn’t bad as long as it’s not the winter. You can take a major highway (equivalent to an interstate) on the Ontario side or there is regional highway that is more direct on the Quebec side, but if you get stuck behind someone slow is more painful. Now driving within Montreal is a hot mess due to congestion and insane construction. Ottawa is a lot easier to get around.
