Training for: Oly tri THIS SATURDAY. Either 50 or 100 miles (depends on weather) next sunday. Then bike trip 8/31
This week: Ummmm..... M - was bum. T - bust. scheduling issues. W - short run? Th - easy spin on the bike F - pack my shit Sa - tri!! Su - recover.
Issues: I can't seem to get my shit together.
AWs: Shorti did her second baby triathlon and had a great time. She clearly had a giant attack of nerves right before the swim and for a second clutched me like she was going to chicken out, but she was brave and marched over to the side of the pool and by the time she was halfway down the pool she had a giant grin on her face. I totally forgot to hand her her goggles so she refused to put her face in and doggy paddled the whole way. Her goggles were in my pocket. Mama fail. She didn't care one bit though. She just likes being out there and doesn't seem bothered by the fact that she's back of the pack. Our waitress at brunch afterward was like, 'OH A MEDAL! YOU WON!" and she was like, "I didn't win. Everybody gets a medal for finishing." with SUCH attitude. She seemed so annoyed that the woman thought she won. LOL She also wore her medal till bedtime though, so she was 100% proud of herself. As a fellow slowpoke who loves races, I feel like I'm doing something right there.
And that's also my report on the 4th of July. after her race we went to the IL's for burgers and that was about it. Next year Sizzli will be big enough to do one of these too and that'll be a whole other thing. Pretty sure he'll be tearassing around the course, but I might be wrong. She'll be too big to be in the floaties and training wheels catagory though so hopefully we get her on two wheels this summmer. Some days she wants to try it, other days she has ZERO interest. Swimming she's pretty much there, the floaty is just a security blanket at this point.

Any AW's or brags?
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? It was fun! I spent much of the afternoon floating in a friend's pool. They had people over for swimming and lots of amazing food--her husband is the Grill Master. Cyclists know how to cook! There were half a dozen salads, and they were all amazing. Good food and good friends. I ran errand afterwards with no one around--get in and get out.

Any issues/vents/complaints? Vent away! The landscaping guys were cutting the grass at 6am this morning by the track I like to run on. So hard to breath! Also, humidity.
Any AW's or brags? I PR'd my 4 miler on July 4. Automatic PR since I'd never raced 4 miles before, but even without that, it was huge for me. There was a giant hill for all of mile 3, but then mile 4 was all downhill and I clocked 7:56/mile for mile 4. I never run that fast. It was amazing.
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? See above for race recap. Then we spent the day at the pool which was amazingly relaxing. I took the 5th off, so had a 4 day weekend. It was so nice to have 4 straight days to sleep in. I also had a 4 day migraine, but at least I wasn't having to work through it.
What are you training for? Date? Wineglass Marathon 10/6, JFK 50 Miler - 11/23
Training schedule for the week? Mon - 6 mi, Tues - 6 mi + strength, Wed - 5 mi, Thur - swim, Fri - 12 mi, Sat - Rest, Sun - 8 mi?
Any issues/vents/complaints? Vent away! Not much to complain about! My kids are in Florida for the week with grandparents and it's surreal having the house to just me and H, like a timehop to 10 years ago. I'm enjoying a stress-free week of a quiet house and some fun times with H. I'm a little bummed and feel guilty about deferring my sprint triathlon, but I know it was the right decision. We're hosting a sleepover for DS' birthday and I just don't want to be a big ball of stress at the party worrying about a race the next day.
Any AW's or brags? I ran 12 trail miles this weekend at Great Falls. It was really early, but it was so beautiful and I loved being out in nature.
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? Super fun! We went to a neighborhood party, ate lots of yummy food, the kids had a blast and enjoyed some fireworks.

Any AW's or brags? This isn't a brag really. I've never done speed work before and have incorporated it this training cycle. It's rough but so far so good. I'm training with a new group and so far it's gone pretty well. I'm also finally getting my asthma under control - it really affects my heart rate and I'm finally able to bring it down to a somewhat normal range.
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? Relatively uneventful. Traveled to be with the family before my brother and his family move across country. It will be the last time we are together for a really long time, so that's going to be sad when that reality kicks in. Saw some fireworks. Ate some food. Relaxed. Was nice.

Any AW's or brags? - Nope
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? - Awesome. We were in Honduras for a scuba diving trip last week, so we did absolutely nothing 4th of July related. We did 4 dives that day, saw all kinds of awesome stuff, and then were asleep by 9pm.

Any AW's or brags?
I did my first barre class today, and it was wearing DD (5 weeks)! It went well and she slept the whole time
Bonus: How was your 4th of July? Hooooot. We brought the kids to check out Martin's Playground (newly opened park to honor the youngest Marathon bombing victim), but didn't last long because there was no shade and it was 90 degrees.
