I'm not sure if I am asking for the right thing or not. I just recently started to wear Urban Decay All Nighter foundation, and love it, but realize that I need something for outdoors that has some sort of SPF in it (after getting slightly sunburned yesterday at a festival.) I generally have combo/oily skin, even after my hysterectomy, so something oil-free would be great. Any suggestions?
Also, I have no actual skin care regime and feel like I definitely should at this point. The soap that worked great for me in the past isn't as good now that i have a few dry patches, and I don't know where to begin. I am 33, post menopausal, combo/oily skin.... I don't even know what I need to buy. Help!

The amount of SPF in foundation really isn't enough to rely on for real sun protection. I would start by using a lightweight sunscreen underneath. I have oily-ish skin and use Biore perfect milk (order off amazon) that I like and other people on this board also like Biore watery essence.
As far as skin care, what are you using now? Others are more well versed than I am about this stuff, but I would suggest starting with a cleanser, toner and moisturizer and add other stuff (retinols or exfoliants) after you get a basic routine down.

Right now I just wash my face with whatever face wash I grab at the store, usually something cheap. I think I am using Dove right now but I am not even sure. I just wash in the morning in the shower and then at night use a makeup removing wipe before bed. Nothing great that's for sure.
Ditto using a standalone spf especially if you'll be outside much, but I can't recommend the current version of the biore watery essence. They reformulated and it's not as good.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find (or I will order) one/some of these sunscreens. I've been outside a lot more this summer than I usually am, and definitely need something for the rest of the year.
I did go over to ULTA because I had some points to use and needed new mascara so I looked at skin care regimen stuff. The one near where I work has an esthetician on site, so I did talk to her a little bit and she suggested a Dermalogica trial kit that may work for my skin type. We'll see how that goes. I am still open to suggestions, though.
Definitely get a separate sunscreen. I’d suggest getting a moisturizer too. I have oily skin to and really like the Clinique gel moisturizer, the yellow one. Their 3 step system is pretty good to get started with a routine too and Ulta runs points promos and sales for Clinique pretty often.

I've been using the Cerave ultra light weight moisturizing lotion with SPF 30. It's been enough for me under my foundation that I don't burn. I'm fairly light and burn easily without sunscreen.

As far as skincare, its really dependent on how much you want to spend and your skin type. IME, it take some trial and error. I am reallly basic and just use Cetaphil cleanser, Clinique toner and Clinique moisturizer and rotate that with various exfoliants.

The Cetaphil cleanser is fabulous. I'd also suggest Paula's Choice as a possibility - you can talk to their advisors about your skin and then get sample sizes to trial things.
I recommended checking out Paula's Choice for a skincare routine. They can help you figure out a good basic routine so that you don't get overwhelmed by all the options that can be added. You just need the basics to start with. I really like the PC sunscreens that I've used, too. Most of my daily skincare routine is PC.
