In July I read: Circe-Madeline Miller Absolutely Almost-Lisa Graff Us Against You-Fredrik Bachman All the Bright Places-Jennifer Niven The Tattooist of Auschwitz-Heather Morris Nine Perfect Strangers-Liane Moriarty Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix-JK Rowling Everything You Want Me To Be-Mindy Mejia The New Me-Halle Butler The Marriage Lie-Kimberly Belle Rain Reign-Ann M Martin Little & Lion-Brandy Colbert
Favorites were Us Against You, All the Bright Places, and The Tattooist of Auschwitz. I'm annoyed I wasted my time on Nine Perfect Strangers, and The New Me was supposed to be wry and clever but maybe I'm not smart enough to get it. HP and the Order of the Phoenix gutted me (as did watching DS read it and feel the same way).

Lots of 4s, no 5s. My favorites were Burn Down the Ground, No Shortcuts to the Top, and Night of the Living Trekkies
The Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton - 2.5 stars, very disappointing Recursion by Blake Crouch - 4.5 stars, not as good as dark Matter but close How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You by Matthew Inman of the Oatmeal - Comics, love everything he does Dread Nation - 4.5 stars, favorite book of the month
I am at 27 books for the year and behind for my goal. However, that's more than I read in all of 2016 and 2017 so not too bad!
The Great Believers 4* Slow start for me, but enjoyed it on the whole The Five: The Untold Lives by the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper 4* Well researched and interesting but repetitive Miracle Creek 5* Loved The Library Book 4* Really enjoyed Maybe You Should Talk to Someone 5* Excellent, really resonated with me Daisy Jones & The Six 3* Good writing, boring story (I thought)
Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie 2.5* How Not to Die Alone by Richard Roper 3* One and Only by Jenny Holiday 3* Dating You Hating You by Christina Lauren 3.5* The Bride Test by Helen Hoang 4* Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren 4*
Late in the Day - Tessa Hadley, a death makes 50-something couples reassess their lives Memories of the Future - Siri Hustvedt, a 50-something novelist very like the author looks back on her life in 80s NYC (sensing a theme here?) Friday Black - Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, really original dystopian short stories that touch on race and class
In July I finished: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver and I loved it. 5 stars. Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne. 3.5 stars. Sustainability Made Simple - Small Changes for Big Impact by Rosaly Byrd and Lauren DeMates. 4.5 stars.
31/52 on the year. I’m in the summer reading slowdown with a ton of other things occupying my time right now but hope to get back to the swing of things in a month or so.
I had a 3-night camping trip at the end of the month and nearly finished 2 books, I love that all of us were sitting around reading!
Books: Circe 2* (gave up about 60% in) The Death of Mrs Westaway 3* When Life Gives you Luluemons 3* Firefly Lane 3* Jar of Hearts 4* The Guise of Another 3*
Audio: How Will You Measure your Life 2* (gave up about 60% through), liked the business examples but they didn’t translate to personal life well.
