it just opened in May - DH is an architect and Eero Saarinen (who designed the initial TWA terminal) is his favorite. We went to NYC to see the Harry Potter play (OMG SO GOOD) and then took the subway out to stay the night.
the rooftop pool is INSANE -- great drinks, great people watching - and you can see massive international flights come in.
We stayed at a resort on Koh Samui that was right at the end of the runway so that I could watch the planes land from the beach/pool. But the airport only has daytime flights. Was the flight noise a problem at night? (Not that it would stop me; just want to plan accordingly!)

nope! we sprung for a terminal view room so DH could gaze at the building all night. hahaha. but seriously noise was not a problem at all considering you are staying in the airport itself.
I really want to do a staycation here. Preferably without my kids, but I’m sure they would love the pool.
i do not recommend more than an overnight. We got there around 4pm....went straight to the roofpool and hung out there for a bit. Got dress for dinner, did cocktails in the plane, ate dinner, did more cocktails in the sunken lounge....went up to um....ahem...change clothes and came back down to check out the plan again--- we had a blast but beyond wandering around the hotel itself and fancy cocktails, there is not a ton to do. (granted this is not a complaint)
