I see my doctor next week so I'll ask then but at what point is swelling concerning? I had swelling really bad with my second and went out at 38 weeks due to not being able to wear proper shoes to work (I worked in the ER) but I can't remember how far along I was when it started. I'm 28 weeks right now. Between braxon hicks starting and swelling in my hands/feet, I'm wondering when I should start being concerned. Most of this I have been through before so I don't worry too much about preterm labor because I made it to my due date with both and had to be induced with my second despite contracting all time. My blood pressure has been good except for when I'm stressed out about non pregnancy stuff. By the time I get in bed my toes are like sausages and my fingers swell a bit too.
I still have a little PTSD from my last pregnany/delivery because I was treated so badly. None of the midwives wanted to deal with me and I was just passed off to the next one. They acted like it was all in my head. Then when it came time to deliver me they just knew I was going to be a c-section and left me alone after breaking my water only for me to deliver on the bathroom floor in my room without her there. The charge nurse is who delivered my son. I don't want to keep bugging my new doctor with things that are just par for the course if that's what they are.
Do you still work in the ER or otherwise have a job where you’re on your feet a lot? Are you able to rest and put your feet up? I might send off an email to the dr and ask for their opinion.
I’m very sorry to hear about your last birth experience . That sounds so traumatic!
I'm no longer in the ER. I'm now in a desk job and the office I'm using has a small couch I can sit on with my laptop so I'm lucky in that aspect. It does help but they swell so quickly the moment I'm on my feet. Last night in the 20 mins it took to clean up my kitchen my feet were completely swollen and took awhile to come down when I got in bed.
I’m a mom to three and have swelled horrible with each. So much swelling that my feet and hands hurt to move. No one was concerned since my BP was good. It sucked so bad. I’m 4w pp and the swelling went away after 2 weeks and I felt like myself again.
zarapipe, that makes me feel better than it probably is normal given my blood pressure is good. I'll at least wait until next week at my appointment to bring it up. Although it sucks I have 11.5 more weeks of this.
dock, I wore them with second one because I was stuck at a desk all day. This time I haven't really but maybe should start. I'm able to keep my feet up and they are fine as long as I'm off my feet. The moment I'm on my feet even walking down the hall to the bathroom they swell right up. I'm trying my best to stay hydrated. I drink coffee first thing and then drink from a hospital jug all day until I get off work so I am drinking a lot of water.
