QOTW: Today is National Book Lovers Day, but we're already talking about books, and it turns out it's also National Kool-Aid day, so what was your favorite flavor of Kool-Aid as a kid? Did your parents gripe about it having too much sugar and not let you drink it?
I've made some progress on Sandman Vol. 7, and I'm over halfway through Tell The Wolves I'm Home, which I'm really enjoying (even though the topic is quite depressing).
QOTW: I was always partial to grape lemonade. We used to make it by mixing a lemonade pack with a grape pack and then using the regular amount of sugar for the grape (I think). For awhile I think they made a grape lemonade flavor, but mostly we used two separate packs.
I read Recursion. It’s funny because I was kind of indifferent until about halfway through and then I really started to like it. Now I’m interested in trying out his book before that.
QOTW: I don’t think I drank a lot of kool-aid. I remember having Hawaiian Punch though.
I am still reading Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield.
QOTW: I drank Kool aid as a child, but I don't remember liking any flavor in particular. I do remember talking my Grandma into buying Ecto Cooler because I liked the packaging. It was awful.
I finished Love and Death Among the Cheetahs, which was not the best in the series. Now reading Because Internet, nonfiction about how internet communication influences spoken and written English, and rereading Harry Potter #4.
QOTW: I always loved grape Kool aid. I don’t remember any sugar complaints, but I think we usually used half the sugar it called for.
I’m reading Dave Grohl - Times Like His by Martin James, and for the childhood re-read category for the summer reading challenge, Kristy’s Great Idea (Babysitter’s Club #1) by Ann M. Martin.
QOTW: I didn’t drink Koolaid that often but I’d always pick cherry first.
I barely read this week. For some reason, I was ready for bed by 9:30, which is usually when I start my hour or so to read!
QOTW: I loved Tropical Punch.
Adding a question of my own: Is anyone else rereading (or reading for the first time) any Toni Morrison books and want to have a discussion? My IRL book club is reading The Bluest Eye in honor of her life, and I thought it might be fun to have some discussion here too (whether on that book or any of her others, or just sharing some favorite passages from various books).
Finished Next Year in Havana and started the sequel. Really recommend both!!
QOTW: Cherry!!! I think we only added half the sugar. It was still rare that koolaid was allowed. Coke and Sprite on the other hand were fine. Maybe it wasn’t the sugar my mom objected to but the making it part. 🤣
I read Burn Down The Ground. It was recommended by someone here and I enjoyed it. I love reading about dysfunctional families.
I’m currently reading This Is How It Always Is. It’s amazing. I can’t put it down. DD and I started Harry Potter 2 but it’s slow going. I really want to read them without her but I’m trying to be patient.
QOTW: I loved all kool aid flavors so long as my little brother made it. I’m not sure what he did but it was always just right.
I read Recursion. It’s funny because I was kind of indifferent until about halfway through and then I really started to like it. Now I’m interested in trying out his book before that.
QOTW: I don’t think I drank a lot of kool-aid. I remember having Hawaiian Punch though.
Dark Matter had a similar feel to Recursion. I rated Dark Matter 5* and Recursion 4*.

I read P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever Lara Jean. There was so much late night baking! I don't understand how that was possible
I'm starting Geekerella next.
QOTW: I know we drank a lot of Koolaid but I can't remember a particular flavor. I remember picking them out at the grocery store (they we like 20 for $1 or something) but I have no idea what flavors I picked.
I finished Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin in two days and it was creepy and amazing.
Now I’m reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. I love this too, although it’s so much more dense and long it’ll take me forever to finish. It’s the kind of book that you want to go on forever, though. I think therapist stuff is fascinating.
My parents didn’t buy processed foods hardly ever (exception made for beans and franks—they were Bostonians). So I don’t know much about Koolaid. Grape and raspberry are pretty much always my favorite flavor though.

I made really good progress on "Before We Were Wicked", hoping I can finish tonight. I just had Daisy Jones and the Six come off hold, and I have "Two Can Keep a Secret" checked out so hoping to do a ton of reading at the beach this coming weekend, while hopefully reading a bit this week.
QOTW: The sharkfin something sharkberry fin? It was pink and tasted like magic. We didn't have kool aid a lot, and when we did it was pre-sweetned. I tried it again in college but it made me break out so I've stopped.
