Brought to you by a conversation at my running group last night. When you workout, do you try and match your brands? So if you wear Nike shorts, you try and wear a Nike top.
It depends. My cycling team is sponsored by a large cycling clothing company. Race team members receive a generous cycling clothing package yearly. We are obligated to wear our team "kits" (jersey+shorts) at any race, century/charity ride, organized events, and all team rides. If I am out riding by myself I'll often wear a complete kit since I have several but sometimes wear clothing based on what is clean. That most often doesn't match colors/patterns although it may/may not be the same brand of clothing. For anything other than cycling I usually try to match color but almost never brand.
I'm not sure I even own any of the same brands between my shorts and shirts...
My favorite running bottoms are athleta, but I don't own any of their shirts. Most of my shirts are random race swag. Or Kirkland generic. Oh...I could do a full body old Navy look. So...yeah, no. Don't care.
I don't own any matching outfits (shorts are usually Oiselle, tops are whatever). But I do match my running sunglasses to whatever I'm wearing. Ha! And for the record, they are all brightly colored with mirrored lenses. Generally when I run, I'm tacky AF. Neon is my jam.
(I’m picturing the women in the $40 classes I go to with their $50 water bottles and fresh pedicures. :::shudder::: )
(Also, matching is so passé anyway)
Yeah the conversation started because a bunch of us go to the same yoga studio. While I love the instructors, there are a lot of stereotypical women in their all matching lululemon, fresh pedis and manis, and makeup.
Then there’s me. My H looked at my bare feet and was like “dude. Your feet are WRECKED from your running”, hahaha.

No, I definitely do not match brands. I barely natch colors. I coordinate based on the length of my run - do I need 10 pockets for random crap bc I’m running more than 2 hours? Then purple shorts and pale blue shirt bc lots of pockets. Am I going out for under an hour? Whatever is clean and I can grab in the dark. Sometimes I even have different patterns on top and bottom.
My H in the other hand, buys coordinating outfits and he will be unhappy if I folded his clothes and don’t put the coordinates together. LOL.

Definitely no. Honestly I just grab a top from one cube and a bottom from another. Usually I buy basic colors so I just grab and go so I don’t have to worry about matching colors or designers.

I don’t but meh, no judgement who are able to do this. (I mean I’m all about wearing 2nd hand clothes to help the environment, so buying matching workout clothes def isn’t a priority but I realize not everyone has the same priorities).
It’s like the whole judgement about make up. Who cares and it doesn’t make the workout less effective.

wanderingback, completely agree. One of the women in my group started the conversation as she felt like a few people in yoga were looking down on her for wearing mis-matched old stuff. It just sparked a whole discussion about what people feel comfortable working out in. Most people in my group don't care what they look like when they work out, so I was just curious as to what people on this board do.
I'm personally jealous of those who come out of yoga looking fresh as a daisy as I look like a fright when I'm done. Ha!
I do not care about brands matching but I will match colors. I do however, like feeling cute in my workout gear sometimes. It makes me more motivated to workout and no one even sees me sometimes since I workout in my garage often. I do it for me.
No. But I also don’t have anything that is super obviously branded. All of my workout gear has a tiny reflective logo (LLL/Althleta/Nike/Oiselle) if anything.
My shoes are probably the most obvious (Adidas), but that doesn’t make me feel like I need to wear head to toe Adidas.

😒😒😒🙄
I sometimes match my brands and I definitely match my outfits. I love doing that. I actually love workout fashion and its another part of running that just makes it fun for me.
I work with a womens cross country team. The girls match all the time.
I usually do because most of my workout clothes are from the same brand with a handful of pieces from another brand. I like what I like. I don’t really do matching sets, but why on earth would i judge what someone else decides to do? Whatever gets people out the door to move their bodies is good in my book.

Right? Sometimes I look like a mismatched mess, but more often than that I at least match/coordinate colors. Regardless, we’re all exercising or (when in the same classes) doing the same workouts. Mainly people just need to focus on themselves and stop being judgmental dicks. It’s so passé. 🙄
In case anyone wondered, I’m head to toe in Oiselle for my 20 miler. I coordinate and I’m cute. Haters gonna hate
Taking this in a different direction but how does their stuff tend to fit? I know people love it but there’s not a store locally that sells it.
Way to kick ass on the 20 miles!
They try to make their stuff fit true to size and lately, on Instagram they do fit videos with different size and shape women with even different fit preferences to show how things fit and can be worn.

I don't know where you are, but if you have an REI nearby, they carry Oiselle. And Nordstrom as well.
I've really wanted mine to have the long rogas in stock to try on. I've only seen the regular though. I should just get them and then if I don't love em it's REI and I can return after testing...
