2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I saw MFM yesterday and officially graduated! Baby is no longer breech (after I was SO SURE he was) and has seriously chunked up (he went from being 48th percentile last month to 80th yesterday). I start weekly NST next week. The nursery is almost done...I just need to order the glider and pick up a few more things. Shit's getting real!
3. Questions for the group? Did you pack an actual hospital bag/diaper bag for baby or did you just toss some stuff in yours? I know the hospital provides diapers, wipes, etc (mine even gives an actual swaddle!), but I want to take a few outfits and things for him...we only live about 10 minutes from the hospital, so it's not like we'll have a long drive home that we'll require a bunch of stuff either. Also, did you take your breast pump to the hospital?
4. What's up next on your pre-baby to do list? Kinda answered above...I need to order the glider and finish organizing the nursery. We need to buy/hang shelves for above the changing table and put together the little cube shelves I bought for the closet. I'm going to a huge local baby consignment sale tomorrow and hoping to score a swing & some newborn sleepers.
I had a labor bag and a recovery bag. I left the recovery bag in the car until after the baby came. I packed a few outfits/hats, a blanket, and a pacifier. I didn't bring my breast pump, but I did bring a boppy.
3. Questions for the group? Is nipple confusion actually a real thing? with DS I had such a hard time nursing him, the first day was so rough and I really wanted to pump and give him a bottle, just to ease the stress on us both, but the nurses acted like I had said to just pour whiskey in his mouth and freaked out over nipple confusion. I figure hes going to have to take a bottle at some point when I go back to work so would it be a horrible thing to bottle feed him early and get him used to both? I'm giving myself a lot of anxiety over it all haha.
i personally think it's a bunch of garbage. lol. we gave DS1 a pacifier starting on night 2 in the hospital and it was a life saver. sometimes he wasn't really hungry, he just wanted to suck for calming/comfort. he let us know when he was hungry by crying around the pacifier in his mouth and not settling down. i nursed him until 18 months, no issues. half the nurses were like 'great, you brought one!" and half just kinda side-eyed but no one said anything negative about it. so, in my experience, it's an overblown 'threat' of sorts. do what you need to do to keep both mom and baby calm and reduce stress.
This is exactly what I wanted to hear thank you. Hahaha. I really want to do a better job advocating for myself this time, my mom guilt started literally day 1 with ds when a nurse shamed me for not feeding him long enough because he kept falling asleep. She also kept commenting on my bra and insisting it was sexy. It was very weird hahaha (it was black and had lace to be fair it was just... so weird)
swiftlyirun I LOVED the Kiinde system. Only the nipple needs to be washed. Such a time saver.
Interested. I typically exclusively BF with #2 and just pumped when I was away from baby for date night or errands OR at first when I was trying to keep my supply up as we sorted out tongue tie issues. A lot of times it was collecting a couple ounces here or there and combining for one bottle, would that work for this system? Also, with DD1, I often pumped more close to 8oz from each boob, so would I just change the bag as I got close to filling?

I EBF, but needed these for daycare bottles (I would nurse him there 1x a day). I believe they make larger pouches than the 6 ounces, but I used those and just switched when I was close to filling the bag. When pumping here and there towards the end, I would pump a couple ozs into a bag, place in fridge, pump again into the bag, etc until the end of day or until full and froze it.
I loved that you could just pop the bag into the shell and place the nipple on-- which means only washing the nipple. We dont have a dishwasher and I was drowning in bottle parts at the end of the day when we'd get home until I switched. We only had 2 shells and 4 nipples (2 slow and 2 medium). It took up no space. I had tons of milk frozen (I BF and pumped for 1 year) and never had 1 single bag leak.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? DD (4) has been a hot mess this week. She started Jr. Kindergarten this morning and did pretty well getting ready. However yesterday she had 4 toilet related accidents, where she hasn’t had a single one in a month. And she shrieked every time she woke up overnight. She’s definitely anxious about this. I’m pretty calm myself and not overly sentimental about it all since she has been so annoying to deal with! Hopefully she gets into the routine and is calmer before baby brother shows up to rock her world again.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's up next on your pre-baby to do list? Just need to install the car seat bases now that we got those back from my BIL. Also trying to find some shoes that fit and look decent to wear to my cousin’s wedding this weekend. I am needing shoes two sizes up (8.5 as compared to a 6.5) to account for how fat my feet are. Need to borrow some.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I am getting very uncomfortable. I feel ok for a lot of the day and then so shitty at night. A lot of BHs. I'll finally get to the point where I'm like "Ok, these are really uncomfortable and seem frequent" and pull out the contraction timer and that's when they stop.
We're building a house! Now I just have to try and get all of the big decisions made before this baby comes. GREAT TIMING. House won't be ready until March, so that part actually is pretty good timing.
Also today is officially my last day at work. I am excited and terrified to be a SAHM.
3. Questions for the group? Nope!
4. What's up next on your pre-baby to do list? HAVE THIS BABY.
2. It's been a rough week. I've had several days worth of migraines, I'm not sleeping well, and now our van has to go into the shop. It's nothing major, me just whining basically, but I'm tired and over it.
3. Diaper backpack recommendations? There are SO many.
4. We need to start her room. It's kind of a catch all room of junk and the paint is awful. We call it the green room bc the paint is lime green. There's so much to do in there before we can really make it a nursery at all.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I am so tired. My classes started last week and it's wearing me out. Also, I've been sleeping for shit. This is not unique to pregnancy, but I feel like it's worse recently.
3. Questions for the group?
4. What's up next on your pre-baby to do list? Tell my mom! I called her today, but she's at the beach with her cousins and I didn't want to deal with that.

lucky428 I got one from Ergobaby and it seems super roomy and nice...but I haven’t actually used it yet lol. I have heard great things about the Land ones, my SIL has one and really likes it.

1. How far along are you? 11w
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I've been so tired this week. DH has been out of town so I've been on my own with DS. We're going to a college football game tomorrow night and it doesn't even begin until 8 p.m. I don't know how I'm going to last the whole game!
3. Questions for the group? None
4. What's up next on your pre-baby to do list? I think we're going to start telling people about my pregnancy next week! I ordered a big brother shirt for DS, so we'll tell him first and then tell our families and friends after that. Thank god the cat will be out of the bag, because I don't think I can physically hide this pregnancy anymore. My stomach feels huge already!
I don’t know where to put this, but wanted some reassurance. We had our 20 week u/s yesterday. They said everything looked good but my son has a soft marker for downs in his heart. It’s not a defect, but found in babies with Down’s syndrome. I can’t recall the exact words he used. He said he wasn’t concerned bc I did the two part integrated genetic testing and it came back negative for downs. I also did IVF with pgs testing. He said the heart issue should resolve by birth. I have to go back at 32 weeks for a growth u/s. I know logically the chances are slim to none, but you always hear crazy stories about embryos getting mixed up.
slcjess I think it’s a bunch of nonsense. We had to supplement with DS, he got a bottle before 2 days old and BF’d just fine. It took us some time to get it and wasn’t easy initially but honestly bottles helped us with that (H or I could feed him some so he wasn’t feeling “starving” and had more patience with BFing to finish his meal until we got better at it).
I do think that laziness is real- babies, not mamas! BFing is way more work for them than sucking down a bottle, so I don’t doubt that many babies seem to prefer it and that adults interpret that as confusion.
lucky428, I don't go here anymore, but I still lurk. We have a Fawn Design diaper bag and I love it. You can wear it as a backpack, shoulder bag, or crossbody. It's super roomy, can be wiped down inside and out. I got mine on Amazon for cheaper than their website, but make sure it's the 2.0. It has the grab handle on top, removable backpack straps and an extra back pocket.

This is stressful, I’m sorry you’re dealing with this! With DD1 a soft marker for trisomy 18 was found on her brain at the a/s and we were rushed to the level 2 u/s at our hospital. It showed the same marker. They told us basically what they told you- “don’t worry, we’ll recheck at 26 weeks”. I’m sorry, WHAT! Six weeks is a long time, but it went how they said it would and the soft marker was gone from her brain, and she a perfectly heathy 3.5 year old now.
