I'm running the half and trying to figure out where to stay. Right now I have two hotels booked. From what I've read, there can be heavy traffic to get to the shuttle lots so I'm trying to figure out what would be a better option. Either option I will be getting the shuttle in Corning.

Option A (Country Inn and Suites) is east of Corning, near the Elmira airport. The drive is about 12 miles, but it's mostly expressway.

Option B (Hampton Inn) is more southwest of Corning. While it's only 4-5 miles to the lot, it's mostly through the streets of Corning. So, not sure if there will be road closures to deal with.

Anyone who has done it, can you comment on the morning traffic, ease of parking, where you stayed, etc? TIA!

I ran it in 2012 and stayed in corning (i dont remember which hotel) but don't recall any traffic and parked on the street in downtown corning with no problem. Im also insane and tend to get to races very very early.

I did the half 6 years ago. I can't remember where we stayed but I do remember parking being very easy the morning of, and being surprised at the ease of getting around. I believe we parked in a multi level garage on the same street as the museum and very close to the finish. I was surprised at how little traffic there was.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn when I did it in 2016. Great location, and reasonable rates. Later check out helped a lot the next day. It was really easy for DH to navigate through Corning to get me to the bus that morning.
