Bad UTI

I had my a/s Thursday. I woke up and was pretty sore on my right side. I told the tech and she did an internal u/s to check on my cervix. She said it was good, but then I forgot to mention it to the MFM doctor.

On Friday I had pain in my back on the right side. It got progressively worse as the day went on. I went home early from work and figured I’d take a shower/bath and feel better. Shower and bath felt good at the time but when I got out the pain was worse and it hurt to even sit down.

I called my OB and she had me drink 32oz of water, take Tylenol and use an ice pack. She said to call if it did not get better in an hour. It didn’t and since the office was closed I headed to L&D. They checked me out and said it was a uti and gave me antibiotics. I have taken 2 doses but my back really hurts again. I dunno what to do. I am assuming it’s going to hurt until the infection is gone. Any ideas? Anyone else with a similar uti??

Are you having any fevers or nausea or anything? Any history of kidney stones? If it gets worse you should call.

Is your back pain centered at the same level as your elbow? It's possible the uti has spread to your kidney and become an infection there. I wouldn't mess around with it. Do you have a walk in clinic you can go to tomorrow?

No to all. They checked me for kidney stones Friday night. They said I am not in enough pain for it to be that.

It’s there and lower and in front under my belly. I was actually able to sleep a lot last night. I am trying to be super gentle on myself today and see if that helps. If the pain comes back again I will call my OB. I am on antibiotics now.

I hope the pain subsides soon. UTI's are the worst.
