If you were going to send your child to an in-home provider who was used & recommended by a friend or family, would you still ask them to provide references? The DCP is a family friend of the person who recommended her, but has/does watch other children.

Sure. They are usually more than happy to provide additional references. I had a persona recommendation but she also gave me people to talk with. It was useful since our friends’ kids were older, so talking to more recent families gave us a better idea of how scheduling worked nowadays.
I personally did not but I certainly don't think it would be weird to or anything. I think mine would have provided them, but honestly after meeting/touring I didn't really think about it haha.
