Hi. I haven't posted in a long time but I do like to read and get inspiration from you all.
I have lost 66 lbs since November. I have about 60 more to lose. I have been doing the C25K program. In fact just finished it this morning. I am running my first 5K on Saturday. My goal is to finish without walking and I hope to do it in under 45 minutes. I am working on not being nervous. I have had this low lying nervousness all week. LOL. Really, I hope to not embarrass myself.
Amazing job on the weight loss and completing C25K - what an accomplishment!! You will not embarrass yourself. I have never ran a 5K where there weren't walkers (and I've run many dozen), and I've found the running/race community to be super supportive of runners of all fitness levels and speeds. Good luck!

Congratulations on working towards so many goals.
Sometimes reframing nerves can help.
Nerves happen to us all as a natural reaction (there is a lot of science on this but basically it's your fight or flight kicking in so remember your body is doing body things).
One way to interpret nerves is that your body is telling you "this matters" and honestly from your post, it sounds like it does! Which is awesome! Doing things we care about is fun, motivating, an opportunity.
This is an opportunity to get out and SEE some of the work you have been doing. Like an experiment.
Honestly if you think about it you experimented all the way through c25k, now you are just doing the final round with a few other people.
What a cool opportunity to see your work in action!
Congratulations!! That first 5k is such such a big hurdle. Kind of like that week when c25k has you run 20 min straight and it just sounds crazy.
As for your nerves...I always get nervous/excited before an event. I think of it like riding a roller coaster. The nerves are part of the fun. The butterflies are how you know something awesome is about to happen!
So just ride it out. Don't try and tamp down on your nerves, but don't spiral with them either. Just let it flow, and then get out there and run. You've got this!!

Congratulations! On the weight loss, and completing c25k, and on being brave enough to sign up for your first race! You are going to have a blast! I did my first 5k after just completing the program too, and I was in the process of losing weight, so I remember feeling all of those feelings.
Remember to have fun, and that everyone is probably feeling butterflies, I know I always do on race day no matter what kind of goal I'm going in with. I love it so much, it's like a party and a chance to get out and do something awesome all at once.
You're going to do great! You've put the time and effort into training, and you got this!
Wow, congratulations on all of your accomplishments!!
You will not embarrass yourself - you are going to get out there and accomplish something you've never done before and something most people never will. Give yourself a huge high five for that!
I always feel a lot of nerves before a race. Always. I actually like it though, it's part of the emotional investment we make in these things. It's part of the experience and part of the fun. Enjoy and good luck tomorrow!
Congratulations on all your progress!! The mental game can be so hard, but I see absolutely zero things you should be embarrassed about. Youโve made amazing strides and nothing can embarrass you if you donโt let it.
Sometimes when I run slower than I want or get discouraged I remind myself that EVERYONE feels this way sometimes. Not every day is a home run but consistently putting in the work will build results. Great job to you!
Yay!! I always feel like a weirdo being so happy for strangers, but here we are. You did am amazing job and I'm THRILLED for you.
Now...have you thought about a marathon? (Mwahahaha!)
Donโt scare her!!!
Hey, I didn't say ironman...
No, but seriously, hang out at 5k for ever as long as it makes your skirt fly up. But man, brace yourself to start thinking crazy things if you hang out here too long
Congratulations on smashing your goal!! I always love it when people check back in. Sometimes you are here to celebrate and sometimes and you need a little encouragement after a tough race. Either way the ladies here can be part of it!
