Legos, but really Duplos. He can handle them better right now as opposed to the tiny Legos. Action figures (superheroes and Toy Story are favorites) Cars/trucks--this hasn't changed since he was 1. He's always loved them. Simple games like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders
Magnatiles, of course. Playmobil sets are great at four
DS at 4 was super, super into dinosaurs. Plastic dinosaur figurines, dino books, etc. He also liked all manner of vehicles. Might have been around 4 he got a big Imaginext pirate ship. We now have two and he still plays with them. They are very cool. Not sure if they are still made.
DD (4 now) likes to play kitchen and with food sets (like Melissa & Doug themed sets--pasta, coffee, ice cream, etc) action figures/dolls to make little set-ups and drive them around in vehicles and stuff Play Doh Kwik Stix paint sticks and also paint daubers Dress up clothes her bike & scooter
Oh yea I forgot about dress up clothes. He has superhero capes and masks, and also a firefighter, police officer, and "surgeon" but I call it a nurse costume. I don't see too many surgeons checking BPs and temps and applying bandaids, which are all the accessories this set comes with. π
My SIL got my son this voice-changing helmet for Christmas last year when he was 4. Itβs the funnest thing ever, and we never would have thought to get something like this for him ourselves. Amazon has other ones too (Ironman, Bumblebee).

On my list for almost 4yo DD -dvd with digital copy (frozen, toy story, brave, inside out) - bounce house for the basement - sound track cds -board games (she has and likes candy land, my first orchard, hi ho Cheerio) - little dress up shop dresses (washable and no glitter shedding)

OMG I had no idea this was a thing, but I am putting this on DS's wishlist for his upcoming 5th birthday. He is obsessed with Transformers and especially Optimus Prime.

My son will be 4 at at Christmas. Iβve already purchased the Hale Quadrilla marble run. His current favorite things: - legos (both duplos for solo play and smaller ones to do with us and play with once assembled) - magnatiles - playmobil bus and recycling truck - sports gear - colored pencils, scissors, etc

I agree with a lot of the same toys here! Trucks but both my kids still really love the playmobil bus! Candyland is a big hit. He loves the kinetic rock set that has a little digger in it. Books are also a big hit.
Kinetic sand sounds fun. Maybe we'll do that for Christmas.
He plays almost exclusively with vehicles (all varieties you can think of, if it drives, he'll play with it), but does like the build garages out of duplo blocks. He likes Go Fish and will play Candy Land and matching games. He still uses his play kitchen too. He doesn't really play dress up (though we have a bin with various outfits, capes, etc.) but will sometimes pretend to be a doctor and pull out his doctor kit and give shots and what not.
Playmobil. All the Playmobil! We have the bus, recycling truck, small camping set, pirate raft, and big pirate ship (he lost his mind when he opened that - it was his birthday gift last week)
We were buying the LEGO kits for a while, but he likes to take them apart and redesign, so we got him a classic set for Easter, and that was a huge hit because he could create whatever he wanted the first time.
He also enjoys puzzles, and all vehicles. His current favourite bath time toy is a ferry boat with two cars. I donβt know where it came from, as it was a birthday gift.

The toys that see play nearly every day are blocks, puzzles, play kitchen and food, magnatiles. She loves doing art, so I often ask for boxes of crayons (the 64 box is a huge hit here) sets of watercolors, paper, etc. because I know that we'll go through it. Oh, she loves games, too. We like Sequence for Kids, Candyland, Guess Who, Hungry Caterpillar Game. She really likes doing dress up, too, though that seems to be something she does more when she has friends come over.

My 3.5 year old (and almost 7 year old) are all Playmobil, all the time. That's become the only thing we buy lately as it's all they're playing with regularly.
