I’m getting my car detailed, do I need to tip? Not sure if the person cleaning owns the business, if that matters. And if so, how much? Total cost is about $250.

I usually tip when I get my car detailed, but I know the workers aren’t the owners. They have a bucket to collect tips and I just throw a few bucks in there. But my wash is $20 max or so. What are you having done for $250?!
No I wouldn’t feel obligated. Why are we supposed to tip everyone who does a job? I assume they are paid for their work.
Wait staff get paid a pittance so their salary is their tip, therefore I always tip at least 20 percent. But I don’t tip everyone in life I encounter who does a service I’m already paying for.
I’m sure they’d be thrilled if you do though, but imo $20 is plenty.

This is where I'm at.
I might throw a couple bucks in a tip bucket if they had one. But otherwise, I probably would not tip.
