Went in for another ultrasound today to look at placenta placement and the baby’s heart. No holes and placenta placement was fine - not low anymore. They did find I had a short cervix. I had mentioned I’ve had some cramping and brown discharge over the past few weeks so they looked more closely to see I’ve developed the short cervix.
I’m now on progesterone every night (until week 36) and they’ll check again next Friday. No exercising (😭😭) or sex at least for the week. Anyone have this or know of it? The doctor said the worst case is next Friday if it’s not better they will stitch my cervix to help prevent preterm labor. If it’s not one thing, it’s another!
Baby was so cute though and looking great on the scan. His/her little face looks a lot like my H. So cute. ❤️❤️

Yes, I had this with both of my pregnancies. The 2nd pregnancy we did both a prophylactic cerclage and then an emergency cerclage later with strict bedrest from weeks 11 until 35.
The cerclage procedures themselves are quick, but the cramping afterwards is uncomfortable.
I did not have a cerclage because by the time they discovered my shortened cervix (1.5cm) I was already 29 weeks pregnant. They gave me steroid shots and I was put on bed rest and told to prepare for a preemie. They took me off bed rest at 35 weeks and I had my c-section at 37 weeks - my DD was also IUGR, hence the early section.
Hang in there! I'll be sending good thoughts your way!
Thanks guys, I feel encouraged that I haven’t had anymore bleeding or blood discharge since starting the progesterone. I’ll know more on Friday when they recheck the cervix. Trying not to stress, just want a healthy baby.
I’m currently dealing with a short cervix, as well. It was discovered at 19 weeks. I was immediately started on progesterone suppositories that I will continue until 36 weeks. I was monitored weekly, sometimes twice a week if my contractions amped up until 24 weeks. I’m now seeing maternal fetal every 4 weeks, and my regular Ob every 2 weeks. The progesterone has kept me right at 2.0 cm. My cervix wasn’t funneling, so they opted to wait and see since I was so close to being at 24 weeks. I’m currently 27 weeks, and everything seems stable. While those 5 weeks were nerve racking, it was nice to see our little boy weekly for awhile. Good thoughts going forward for you.

Thank you this makes me feel hopeful too. I am seeing a MFM right now and will be measuring almost 24 weeks on Friday when they do the recheck.

Just clicked in here by accident and saw your post. I had a short cervix my first pregnancy that was stabilized with progesterone suppositories for a month (though we ended up TFMR for other, far more serious issues). This last pregnancy, it didn't get below 2 cm until 25 weeks and I was too late for a cerclage. After a hospital stay and steroid shots, I was put on no activity/modified bedrest, monitored 2-3 times a week and it held steady at "no measureable cervix length" until an induction at 39w+5d. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this -- it was so stressful.
Just as an update I was remeasured today and they said since last week with the progesterone that I have gained enough length to put me back into the normal range again thankfully. They will do one final recheck next week to put my fears to rest. Thanks for the support ladies. ❤️❤️

Such good news!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes! I still feel anxious, think I’m having some round ligament pain rather than cramping and nervous to run again, but hopefully once I go back on Thursday and am the same/stable, it will relieve this anxiety. I wish I wasn’t an anxious person in general.
