1. How far along are you? 21 + 5
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I’m having all the aches and pains when I walk around. Already.
3. Questions for the group?
4. How are you feeling overall at this point? I feel pretty good overall. I’ve been under some stress and that’s been getting to me lately. My BP is still normal, but definitely creeping up and I attribute it to stress at this point.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? Feeling pretty darn sore. It turns out the lower pelvic pain I have been feeling for the past 10 weeks isn't normal pregnancy pains, instead I have a hernia. Ended up in the ER/L&D last week with strong acute pain. Sounds like I can leave as-is for now and then have surgery post-delivery. Will post a separate thread once I talk with my OB next week as I am really struggling to figure out whether surgery sooner vs. later following delivery is better
3. Questions for the group? None right now
4. How are you feeling overall at this point? Overall feeling really over it, though also not ready to have a baby quite yet, she needs to cook for a few more weeks. But I am really trying to wrap items up at work ASAP, though that is challenging as I feel like they are still loading more and more onto my plate. I am concerned that I may go early which may be just paranoia, but hoping to have everything at work wrapped up by 37 weeks.
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? Last week of work and I’m working from home. It’s SO NICE to not have to get dressed in the morning!
3. Questions for the group? Any tips/experience introducing a dog to baby? Ours has been around infants below and she mostly ignores them (she’s cool as long as there is room for her on someone’s lap), but she’s never lived with one full-time.
4. How are you feeling overall at this point? Still pretty ok - my back has started hurting and I have more pelvic pressure, but ok

Oh wait! I have a question:
Those of you who found out the sex through the DNA test, was it just something you asked your doctor for? Or was it included in a different test? We didn’t even get the option last time but if we can do it earlier, then I think I’d like to.

At my growth scan tomorrow morning, the tech is going to be so annoyed bc I don’t think this kid stays still long enough to take any decent measurements. All the pictures are going to be a blur.
...brought to you by my stomach rocking all over the place.
dock, are you favorable for an induction? Dilated/effaced? What was the reason for your csection last time?
red, I failed the one hour this pregnancy and passed the three hour.
stellelinds25, I had unexplained high fluid in my first pregnancy. They made me do the three hour, which I passed, and I was already doing weekly ultrasounds for an unrelated issue, but they said they would have just monitored it.

1. 16 weeks
2. I passed my three hour glucose!
3. Nope
4. Better, I think? The nausea is easing up, but I still have my moments. I almost puked emptying the trash this morning. Still waiting for that second trimester energy to kick in.

fairfax I think what we’re going to do is have me go in alone first and do my usual greet with lots of pets and love (we have 2 small dogs that are both mommy’s dogs) and then have DH bring baby up in the carrier and put it on the floor and let them sniff him out. They’ll be staying with my ILs while we're in the hospital, so I may send a blanket home with them too.
jorja as of now, I assume no. When they checked me in l&d last week I was high and closed (as one would expect at 36w). I haven’t been checked again since. I’ve been having regular contractions for a few weeks now, but they’re not actually doing anything.
I was induced at 41w last time purely due to being “overdue”, and was also unfavorable when it started. I never progressed and never developed a regular contraction pattern even on pit, but they broke my water putting in an internal monitor at one point, which ultimately triggered the csection due to time. I think the most I dilated was 5cm, but I’m pretty sure the resident was being generous with that measurement.

When we got the results of the cell-free DNA test, the genetic counselor asked if we wanted to know the sex.

We chose not to do this testing through our doctor (only later at a MFM visit), but with my doctor the gender chromosome was automatically tested for in the cell free DNA test.
fairfax, before we even brought DS home from the hospital, H took a blanket home that had DSs scent on it and let the dogs check it out and sniff it so they were familiar with his scent. Then when we actually brought him home from the hospital, I went in the house first and greeted our dogs and loved on them for a few minutes. Then we brought DS in and let them sniff him in the carseat. After a few minutes, they moved on and decided he wasnt that interesting.
Our dogs are large breeds, so not lap dogs nor do we let them on the furniture so really they just kind of ignored him for the most part when he was brand new. There was never any major jealousy because we were holding the baby. We'd always sit on the floor with DS on a blanket or in his bouncer and if they were interested in sniffing him, encouraged it. As DS slowly was down on the floor more and eventually mobile, they just got used to each transition. We always watched them very carefully around him and never left them unattended together until we were sure they were completely comfortable with whatever stage he was in.

At my first OB appt, the midwife went over all the testing that I should consider given my age and risk factors - NIPT was one of them. Since I'm old, my insurance company would cover it so we opted for it. I just verbally told the midwife I wanted to do it and they drew the blood and sent it off at one of my regular appts early on.
The nurse called me when results came in and asked me on the phone if I wanted to know gender.
I'm not sure I knew enough at that point to know to ask for it, honestly. If you already know you want it, I would just tell them at your next appt that you'd like to do it and they should be able to handle it all for you.
I had that with my son. They gave me an additional high res scan with the MFM, which didn't show any issues. They also had me do the GD test early. Ultimately never found out why and everything was fine. They told me that most cases of polyhydramnios are unexplained.
Thanks for the dog advice guys! I think we’ll combine all the tips: have someone bring a blanket home from the hospital, come in and say hello before bringing baby inside the house, and then try a meet and greet in the car seat.
She’s a sweet dog and she never had any issues with my niece as an infant - would sit next to you while you fed her and everything. She is not quite as tolerant now that my niece is 2.5, but I get that. I just want to start off on the right foot!
dock, I’d personally go for the RCS under those circumstances. It does not sound like you are overwhelmingly favorable for an induction. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work, but I’d hate to go through that and then end up being sectioned anyway. I’m sorry it’s not more clear cut!
I am hoping I passed the 3 hour because they have not called. I wish they’d call either way. They say 24-48 hrs for results and they will only call if there is an issue. FX I am good since I went Monday. Thanks all!
