Can anyone recommend a Maui rental? We’ll have a 3 and 6 year old with us. I’m concentrating on Honua Kai and Westin Resort Villas at the moment. I like that they still feel resort-like and have some nice amenities, plus we prefer West Maui for the proximity to Front Street. Has anyone stayed at either of these recently or have a hidden gem I should consider?

We stay at the Westin Resort Villas when we go, as my in laws have a time share there. Last time we went was with a 4 and 7 year old. While it has a resort feel, it’s not quite as great as staying at a resort- pool service is slow and I think the food is fine but not great. The new section of the resort that they just opened is great though. It has an artificial beach and a splash pad area that my kids adored last trip. My younger kid love the pirate ship pool and my oldest loves the big slide. They also have a kids club (which we never used) and a bin where you can leave your beach toys if you don’t want to cart them home, so you also don’t have to buy them.
I do like its proximity to other places. We walked to Dukes for breakfast most mornings and often either went out to dinner or got take out most nights.
We recently stayed at Honua Kai in the Konea building in late May with a 2 & 4 year old. They loved it - the pools, the water slide, the koi pond! Easy and close walk to grocery store and food options for the konea side. There is construction on the mountain side but we stayed in K-445 on the inside and never heard construction or was bothered by it. Our unit had a screened slider wall that was awesome and we spent quite a bit of time out on the lanai looking at the view. Luckily we got early morning sun and afternoon shade while the other side had lots of sun that few people were outside on their lanai so that might be a consideration when renting. We rented through KBM that included a bunch of perks/beach stuff and rental car that we appreciated and made it a pretty good deal. I always like to see and pick my unit rather than getting randomly assigned by the resort.
We did walk to the Westin Nanea next door (and further down the path too) and it’s newer so I’m sure it’s nice but I was happy at HK especially for the price.
Thank you both! I think we may book Honua Kai bc I like the idea of choosing our exact villa. Thanks for the KBM rec! Love that they include car rental and all the extras like beach chairs, umbrella, etc.
