The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - 5* The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny - 4.5 * The Handmaids's Tale by Margaret Atwood - 5* The Vine Witch by Luanne Smith (Kindle First) - 3.5* The Testaments by Margaret Atwood - 4.5*
The Priory of the Orange Tree was absolutely my favorite book of the month (and of the year so far).
The Testaments was the hardest to rate. It started out really strong but I feel like the writing had a serious drop in quality about 3/4 of the way through.
No bad books this month. The Vine Witch wasn't anything special but it was good for a Kindle freebie!
I am at 36/50 books for the year. I didn't think I was going to make it to my goal but I just downloaded several short horror novels so I have a chance!
I had a lot of duds this month, but had one stand out. I was hesitant about reading Finding Dorothy because I'm not big fan of The Wizard of Oz, but I did enjoy this book. 46/45 books
4* Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts, 4.5*
2* Freefall by Jessica Barry, 2.5* The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate,2.5* The Current by Tim Johnston Her One Mistake by Heidi Perks
How to Forget by Kate Mulgrew 3* The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali 3* The Storyteller's Secret 5* Normal People by Sally Rooney 3* The Chilbury Ladies' Choir by Jennifer Ryan 4* The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware 3* A Nearly Normal Family by M.T. Edvardsson 5* The Tenth Muse by Catherine Chung 3*
The standouts were The Storyteller's Secret and A Nearly Normal Family. They're among my favorites for the year and in general.
56/60 for the year but I'm hoping to surpass my goal by ten or more.

Wow, everyone seems to have read a lot. Sadly, I'm rather swamped with other pressing concerns at the moment, so I could not finish what I started... But I see some books with high ratings here, I'll surely check them out!
Sontag - Her Life and Work by Benjamin Moser. I find her endlessly fascinating so I enjoyed this. Women Rowing North - Navigating Life's Currents and Flourishing as We Age by Mary Pipher. This was nice, but kind of basic. The Lager Queen of Minnesota by Ryan Stradal. I enjoyed this a lot! The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead. So good, if depressing. Working by Robert Caro. I really enjoyed reading about his process, and how he came to penetrate the workings of power, but the format is weird, with a lot of repeated information.
