I just finished a 16 week HM training cycle with my LRS. I seriously loved the program and I plan on training with them again. However, it’s really run focused (duh) and I feel like I could really supplement that with weight training. I’d love to find a personal trainer that specializes in working with runners. Is this dumb? Or does this exist? I’ve typed in soooo many search terms in to google and I either find run coaches or “normal” personal trainers. And I can find online strength training programs for runners but I’d love to find someone who does an assessment and recommends something specific to help me with my goals and biomechanics, etc.
Do you have a good gym near you? I ask because that’s how I found my good friend who is a personal trainer but who also loves to run. So he’s well versed in running and weight training (and really mixing all the things like abs and cardio as well) because they all work together.

How was your race?
We just joined the local YMCA but haven’t been yet because it’s brand new (and super swanky) so it’s slammed. I could always ask the coaches at the LRS to see if they have anyone they recommend.
Race went pretty good! It was SUPER well organized and the weather was perfect (55 and cloudy). My gait didn’t feel super smooth from the get go and one of my sneakers was too loose. I tightened it after a bit but between those two issues my hip was throbbing at mile 5.5. I had to battle with everything I had just to finish. I didn’t run it in the time I wanted but I still managed to PR. And, I was so proud of myself as I literally gave it everything I had. Thanks for asking!
My mom ended up going to physical therapy for running-related issues and they have her specific exercises to do for overall strengthening too. I think they had a program she joined once she was done with official PT. I wonder if there might be something like that in your area.
I can understand the frustration. I've been trying to find good resources for cross-training for dancers. It's not as easy to find these niche things as I thought it would be.

Congrats on your run! My city just recently had a new YMCA built and had a half marathon this weekend. I've had some good trainers before, but I don't know that they specialize in runners. A good trainer is worth their weight in gold though. Good luck on finding one.

Congrats!
I agree with this. My two friends who are PTs do this for people. They help with your running technique and show you exercises and weight-bearing activities to supplement running that strengthen your weaker areas or help support your body as a runner.
