We are planning a trip here probably end of May/early June (alternatively, we could do July or September, if better). DS will be 9 months to 1 year depending on when we do it.
Tips? Suggestions on cities that we must go see?
We are considering renting a car and driving between countries. Also will likely be taking the ferry over to Helsinki.
We loved our trip to these three countries. We started in Tallin, drove to Riga, then down to Vilnius. We also did Klaipeda (Lithuania) and it was underwhelming. Do not miss Hill of Crosses which is in Lithuania near Šiauliai. You could also do the Hill of Witches, which we didn't do. We went back to Tallinn last Summer, taking the ferry from Helsinki, which was easy to do. Be prepared there are not a lot of places to sit on the ferry so grab what you can when you see it, it is literally an old cruise ship they have repurposed as a ferry.

We were in Helsinki back in July and took the ferry over to Tallinn to visit friends for a few days.
In Helsinki we really enjoyed taking the ferry out to Suomenlinna for the day. We had an amazing meal at Restaurant Savotta, although it was definitely expensive.
In Tallinn we basically just let our friends take us around to their favorite restaurants. We went to Clayhills Gastropub and Pohjala Brewery, both very good. The Museum of Occupations and Freedom was really interesting and well done.

The microbrewery next door rotates quite a bit of Pohjala among their guest beers. I usually like it, but I’m not a fan of Öö and I’ve had two very different experiences with Must Kuld.
One of my sons went to Lithuania on a cultural exchange last summer and another son did his daddy and me trip to Estonia and Latvia last summer. I think the highlight for all were the museums of the soviet era.
The Baltics don't have a great train system like the rest of Europe by my husband was really impressed with the buses. They used buses to get all over.

I visited Tallinn in August of 2018 and did a food tour while there. I absolutely loved learning about and more importantly, tasting Estonian food (knew nothing about the cuisine) and got a great background on this relatively unknown tiny country.
