Hi everyone!
I just made an appointment for E to get her hair trimmed. I hope she can sit still long enough! It will be her first real haircut.
I started potty training 2 weeks ago and she's doing great. She loves her Elmo undies. She is even staying dry for naps and the last few nights she has gotten up to pee in the middle of the night. Wasn't expecting that.
Her first haircut! Man, Sage has so much GD hair, lol. He has had more than I can count. The first few I would have him sit in my lap and they were really great with him. This time he did it himself and I let him watch something on my phone. He twisted and turned a lot because he wanted to see what was going on behind him, lol. But it was fine.
We have been going through a great phase with S recently which is soooo nice. Last month was tough, but this month, knock on wood, he is doing great. Being helpful, way less tantrums, sleeping great. SO happy and excited, enthralled with halloween decorations we see when we go out for runs, lol. LOVES to sing and ride his bike.
The big news is that H took a new job after nearly a decade of being at his current job. Today is his last day. Due to his career and the position he took there were some big newspaper articles in our local paper. This will be a GREAT change for him and for our family. Along with that goes selling our home--we did not even put it on the market and had an offer come in today. I think we will counter offer for a few thousand more because to move right now is SUPER inconvenient--we were going to wait until the spring when there were more houses on the market for us to choose from. So lot's going on right now!

Congrats to your H shauni27! I hope this job makes things easier for you.
E's head was shaved for her surgery last year, so this is about 18 months of growth. Her hair is curly and it's getting really heavy in the front, so I hope he can clean it up a little. I don't have curly hair so it's been a learning experience for me!
I'm so excited for you H's new job, shauni27 ! , I'm sure it's such a relief that he'll be around more and you'll get a bit of a break. That's crazy about the house! I hope it all works out the way you want.
Good luck with the haircut, thoseareradishes . We should probably do that this weekend too, DS hair is pretty out of control. He was scared the first few times, but now loves it because he gets a lollipop and a balloon at the end
We're doing well! DD is 4 months and an absolute delight. She's the happiest baby in the world and just smiles all day, its the best. She's started sleeping better too; we're pretty consistently down to 2 wake-ups which is definitely manageable. I'm back at work and the transition has been pretty smooth.
DS is great, too. He turns 3 next month and is just a silly and happy boy. He was going to be Kermit for Halloween but has since changed his mind and wants to be Miss Piggy instead. He's VERY excited to wear a pink dress, lol. So I'll probably make DD Kermit instead.

I am obsessed with this and cannot wait to see pictures <3

It's pretty funny, he's very adamant about being Miss Piggy (fine with us!). He just really loves pink right now. I asked what he wanted on his birthday cake and his answer was "I want a pink cake with ladders". LOL, okay buddy, you got it.

A is going as a bumblebee and I had a heck of a time finding costume that didn't include a tutu and tight stripey top. Managed to eventually find one with a proper round bee body, but I guess the message is that only girls want to be bees and those bees need to LOOK like girls so better stick a skirt on. 🙄
A is enjoying being back in a routine with school and gymnastics. She'll start swimming again next week too.
It's Thanksgiving this weekend and we're not doing a turkey because I just can't with a turkey this close to Christmas. I don't know how Americans do it with 2 turkeys in less than 40 days with their fake Thanksgiving. 😉
DS is almost 19 months and this is such a great age. I'm amazed at all of the new things he learns all the time. When I put lotion on my legs after a shower, I prop my foot up on the side of the tub. He totally copied me and put his little foot up as high as he could get it, then pretended to put on lotion. It was so cute. And he loves his little sister so much.
DD is 3.5 months. She's still a challenge, definitely not the chill baby Leo was. BUT, she luckily sleeps through the night mostly (we put her to bed around 930, and she'll wake up to eat around 430 or 5), so we're lucky on that front. Not looking forward to that 4 month regression though. She's super smiley and social, and I love watching DS with her. She loves to smile at him.
DS is 17 months and time is going by so fast. He is hilarious, loves making people laugh. Also, if he hears people laughing, he will laugh too - it’s so funny. Loves doing whatever anyone else is doing. If I’m vacuuming he will run to find his mop or broom to “help”. If I’m cleaning the counters he will have to find a cloth to wipe with. He doesn’t ever walk, only run. We’ve had 3 incident reports at daycare over the past few weeks that have to do with DS running, losing balance and hitting his head on something.
Adjustment to daycare has gone well. He loves anything to do with sensory play and is very independent.
He’s going to be the PB deer, I am so excited. It’s going to be cold here so it’ll be perfect.
Oh and it looks like our FET might have worked, pulling strong lines on FRER that are darkening, beta is on Wednesday!
Oh and his sleep his back to normal too! Going down at 7pm and we have to get him up for 7am to get him to daycare.
Yay, October! It’s my birthday month, and always my favorite time of year.
The kids are doing great. DS got his second set of tooth extractions, and handled it well. Poor kid is following in my footsteps. Three of the four teeth had shark teeth behind them. 🤦♀️ DD is freaking adorable, and walking well. I can’t believe she walked at an earlier actual age than DS did, when he was full term!
I’m marathon training and already tired of it. Haha. Early December can’t get here fast enough!
DS is going to be Spider-Man, and I got DD a unicorn costume. I found light up unicorn horns for myself and our au pair, but they disappeared from our table. I’m sure DS or his friends put them somewhere!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

shauni27 - congrats to H on his new job! That will be amazing for you guys!
P seems to love his new little sister. However, he is also very jealous/upset about the amount of attention she gets/requires. He’s struggling quite a bit I feel so sad about it. Two kids is TOUGH. Anyone who has ever said that going from 1 to 2 is easier than going from 0 to 1 is an absolutely insane person. I’m keeping it together but feel like I’m not great so far as a mom of 2. Also I’m kind of totally over having visitors. I want my house back (although no one has been rude enough to stay here- they’re all in hotels. I still just want some quiet.)
He’s going to be a fireman for Halloween. I’m trying to find DD a Dalmatian costume, but the smallest I can find is 0-3 and not newborn, and I think that will still be way too big on her.

Everyone tells me the transition from 1-2 is the worst ever. I can only imagine!! Last weekend we babysat for my bff’s 11 month old. S was INSANELY jealous. It was wild.
thoseareradishes, I love to hear how well E is doing! How old is she now? Good luck with the haircut.
shauni27, I didn’t realize the new job meant a move for you guys! Will you stay in your job, or is it not far enough that you have to switch too?
We probably don’t HAVE to move. But it’s an hour for g, which is pretty far considering there is zero traffic. The goal was to find something close to both of our jobs (my office is somewhat near his new resort) but that area is insane. (Not Cali insane but still, double or triple what was offered on our (very nice) current home price!

S is obsessed with firemen—he has a costume but we are not doing that for Halloween ( he won’t wear it more than 5 mins)
For DD I would do a white onesie that you take a black sharpie to. For real. It’s one day, she’s tiny, I’m cheap, everyone will get it. 🤷🏻♀️
also, guys. On Saturday I plopped S into a big pile of blankets as we stripped the bed. He was like "no no no" and I told him "Aw, you used to love doing that when you were a little baby!" No fucking joke, he turned around and goes "But I'm not a baby, mama!"
G looked at me and was like OMG. I told S never to say something so mean to me ever again, lol.

The relative ease of the 0-to-1 transition versus the 1-to-2 transition might depend on the kids. Our first baby was a non-sleeping colicky disaster, so that transition was brutal. Baby #2 is way more chill and that transition went a lot more smoothly.
loira, last year I was stubborn about a non-tutu costume. This year I gave up. She wanted to be a kitty, so I got a standard tights/leotard/headband with ears/tutu with tail costume. And I got a mouse hat for the baby. Then, last night, H said she wants to be a princess instead of a kitty. Grr, of course she does.
shauni27 - omg these kids, already breaking our hearts!
((knx9211 )) Everyone I spoke to says the transition from 1-2 was the hardest and 2-3 was the easiest lol.
Daycare is going really well. DS just walks in now, doesnt look back anymore. And I have to chase him around his room in the evening to get him ready to go home.
Beta came back at 316 yesterday at 10dp5dt! FX it doubles.

Big hugs, this is all normal. DS also really struggled in those early weeks, and its hard to not feel like you're failing both kids at times. It does get better, I promise. I found it helped to do special mommy + DS outings fairly regularly (nothing crazy, like to the playground for an hour). I talked them up about how special it was and how baby sister couldn't come because she was only a baby and it was just for mommy and Calvin. I also made a point to talk about all the other things he could do that DD couldn't, like I'd give him a popsicle and tell DD "you can't have a popsicle baby sister, they're only for big boys like Calvin!". I think that helped with some of the jealousy.
Thank you! Beta came back at 657. Now to book our first ultrasound!
yay!! so happy for you!
random question for our resident Canadian: how does this work with your leave? I know you just returned to work fairly recently; do you have to be back for a certain amount of time before you can utilize that benefit again? I imagine its not uncommon for moms to come back already pregnant with #2!
