Has anyone done anything outside of Disney World that they thought was worth spending the day doing? Like Legoland or SeaWorld, etc? We’re passing thru for a short trip and don’t want to go to the parks those days.
eta: also if you know how to get tickets or reservations for the above for a deal, please share!
We don't support Sea World because of their shady behavior, but I know a lot of people will do Universal. If you don't mind an hour's drive, Kennedy Space Center is great. Locally, Gatorland or Boggy Creek airboat tours are fun.

I think it depends on whether you have kids and their ages and interests. My son loves Legoland and Universal. He’s 9 and is more interested in interactive experiences than rides. He also loves Harry Potter. We did the Kennedy Space Center a few years ago for a day trip. It was fun and interesting.
We did a day at Gatorland and it was really cool! They rescue a lot of gators who are picked up in people’s yards and on golf courses and give them a safe place to live out their lives. It’s very educational.
If you haven't done a Disney Waterpark I think they are worth the admission. Universal for one day will be extremely expensive and 8 is borderline old enough to enjoy it all - I would pass. 8 is also borderline too old for Legoland so you are kind of in a tough spot.
Not what you were looking for, but we drove to Blue Spring State Park to see the Manatees and then lunch at New Smyrna Beach.
How old are the kids?
DS will be with me-he’s 8
The manatees sounds like an awesome thing to see
is it weird I have a gator phobia?
Sorry for assuming more than one kid.
No, I don't think a gator phobia is weird! When we walk on trails or anything in Florida, I am always worried one is going to jump out and chomp me. I walk in the middle of any path. The State Park was safe, boardwalks and stuff. My daughter was just under 3 when we first went.
