I know there’ve been lots of posts but my search isn’t working. I figured since I’m 39w I should probably pack my hospital bag. lol I cannot for the life of me remember what I packed last time besides going home outfit(s) for DS and a phone charger.
What did/do you have in yours? What do you wish you’d had that you didn’t?
I brought a toiletry bag just like any other overnight, a nursing nightgown, some nursing tanks, a fold over waist skirt, a cardigan, flip flops, camera, phone and charger, water bottle, snacks, etc. I asked for my boppy from home the next morning.
Plus going home clothes for both of us, although nothing elaborate in either case. I went home after DS's birth in leggings, a nursing tank, and zip up hoodie.
Comfy shirts, a robe, toiletries and flip flops. I had my feeding pillow but never used it.
For baby, velcro swaddles, wipes, and a few shirts. Pacifiers if you want.
My first was a NICU baby. I wore a ton of shirts and my robe. Never pants because I didn't GAF. My second was a typical C section. I rocked the hospital gown except for the time I went for a walk, when I put on a shirt and robe.
Plus going home clothes for everyone. I think I wore maternity sleep shorts both times.

Shower shoes! I wore those around the room too because they are easy to wash off. Snacks (granola bars, dark chocolate salted almonds). This new hospital I’m delivering at this time told me I need to bring a water cup bc they only have little styrofoam cups, so maybe bring a big water bottle? I only bring a short robe with me & just wear the hospital gown with the robe over it to cover the back.
- Lots of snacks - Long cell phone charging cable for both me & H - A robe - Shower shoes (although I was in the hospital for 24 hours and showered as soon as I got home instead of at the hospital) - Comfy/baggy shirts - Sweat pants - Going home clothes for baby - We also packed a couple sleepers for baby to wear at the hospital
I also packed diapers & wipes but the hospital provided us with enough while we were at the hospital.

Well I thought I’d only be in the hospital for 3 hours after he was born so I didn’t have clothes for him other than 1 day and going home. Don’t be me. Bring extras.
Long charging cord A robe Boppy pillow for breastfeeding since I had a c/section
I didn’t wear hospital gowns other than for my c-section and immediately after. They let you wear your own clothes so I had a dress for labour and I wore my robe after I was back in my room.
I packed a bunch of stuff with DS and used hardly any of it. The hospital provided clothes for him during the stay and I was fine with the hospital gown, so even though I packed more I only needed a going home outfit for DS and I.
Things I actually used: - my own comfortable pillow (in a nonwhite pillow case to avoid getting mixed up with the hospitals stuff) - A long charging cord/my phone - going home clothes (0-3 months for DS who was huge, flowy maxi dress for me in case I’d needed a C) - snacks for H - box of chocolates I brought for the nursing staff - basic toiletries, though ultimately I waited until I got home to shower
Things I wish I’d brought: - Fridababy Momwasher. The hospital peri bottle was crap, it held very little water and in my ADA bathroom I had to get up and waddle my post partum self to the sink to refill it multiple times every bathroom session.
Things I didn’t need: - socks- the hospital provided grippy socks for me, though they were one size fits all so people with smaller feet would probably be swimming in them - makeup- silly me thinking I might get presentable for photos. Did. Not. Care. - robe for in the hospital- mine was not heavy enough so I felt more covered and comfy in the hospital gown.
I took nursing tanks and bras, yoga pants and pants with drawstring waist, a short lightweight bathrobe, cheap flip flops, a toiletry bag with shampoo, conditioner etc, hair dryer in case I was feeling up to it (I did), phone charger, kindle, and my pillow from home. Plus a couple going home outfit options for Z

I think it depends on your hospital/preferences, so think about if you were in a hotel- what would you want (at least for non-baby related things).
For #2 (aka stuff I needed and actually used):
-my own pump. I hated the hospital one first time around and both girls were terrible latchers and had tounge ties, so I needed one. Much less hassle to have my own too. -pumping bra -my breast friend -my own lanolin (I don’t care for theirs- too greasy!) -oversized undies. I only wore the mesh for the first 12 hours -my own pretty robe. It was lightweight and I felt pretty in it! -my own hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner, all toiletries, etc, because I’m picky like that. -my favorite UGG slippers -shower shoes -towels (ok something I wish I had but didn’t fit in my bag) the hospital ones are TINY and scratchy -long phone charging cord -my own pillow, hospital ones are flat as a pancake -my own blanket because my after delivery shivers are legit -nursing tanks/nursing shirts for when ppl visit. I kicked everyone out with #1, but with #2, as long as I was covered it was fine, unless I needed a visitor break then- everyone out! -cute gowns/hats/going home outfit for baby -snacks for me and -DH also brought a sleeping bag which he found v helpful -otherwise, my hospital is amazing and had adequate supplies of everything else I and baby needed. Perks of #1 baby hospital in the country!

Towels Phone charger(s) Snacks Rubber flip flops Toiletries (including my hair dryer) (I didn’t use my robe) I wore yoga pants/tshirt or tank tops and hoodie in hospital and to go home
For baby- Sleepers Swaddles Pacifiers Hats (The hospital hats didn’t stay on her head and made her look like a gnome lol)
I don’t go here, but I was browsing the boards and I love a good packing list
I *way* overpacked for DD. The only “hidden gem” items I loved having in addition to the obvious items were an eye mask and Colgate Wisps. So much so that now I include them with baby shower gifts.
I don’t like ear plugs so I didn’t bring any, but I wish I did, because a beeping monitor kept waking me up post-birth and I started crying because I was so tired.
