I am attempting my first crock-pot meal today . Here is what I put in it
1/2 large spanish onion 3 medium potatoes 2 steaks 2 packs of Au ju with half the water for more flavor I plan to put some carrots in it later but I am not quite sure when to add them because I don't want them all mush-y. What do you ladies think? Should I add something?

Sounds delish. I make a similar recipe sometimes and add in chopped celery at the same time of the carrots (you don't want that to get mushy, either).
Maybe just steam the carrots to go with the rest? That way you can make sure they don't get mushy.
We're going to a ball tonight. Second one this month. Whee! The caterers at the hall that is being used make decent food, though. I'll probably have chicken and potatoes with some veggie on the side, after a salad and before a cake/dessert of some kind.

I may just steam them. I fell asleep before I could add them and don't think they would be ready by the time P got home for dinner. Also, I tasted the juice/gravy/stuff and OMG I think I did good for a first timer

Steaks in a crockpot? I thought low slow cooking was for tougher (and cheaper) cuts with more connective tissue. But, don't take this mostly-vegetarian's word for it. I just know when I have a steak I want it med-rare.
Dinner is out with a group tonight. An Italian place inspired by Asian fusion. Which actually is a lot better than it sounds. There's sadly no good authentic Italian here, but I love this particular restaurant.
