Dd’s close friend at school is LDS and we will be attending her baptism this weekend. What is an appropriate gift and any idea how long we should expect it to last?
Hmmm...I’m trying to think of what I received. There are all sorts of church-y themed things that are appropriate, like a CTR ring or hold to the rod necklace. You could also go with anything you’d give an 8 year old for their birthday.
As far as how long, do you know if there will be other kids? It’s usually something like a prayer, a song or two, a talk, then the baptism(s). Each baptism takes like 5 minutes. If there is only one kid, I’d guess something around 30 minutes.
We went to one for DD’s friend. She was the only one getting baptized, the entire ceremony was about an hour. We gave her the illustrated Harry Potter book lol, nothing baptism oriented at all.
No idea if there are other kids but I think maybe not? I honestly wouldn’t even know where to find an LDS-appropriate religious gift so I will swing by our local toy store and get a nice book. She and my dd love the same types of books and often trade so that’s an easy one! Thanks.
