I finished Circe on Wednesday with minutes to spare on my e-book loan. I'm now halfway through Witchcraft in Colonial Virginia by Carson O. Hudson, Jr., but that's not hard because it's only 100 pages. I'm pretty well versed in witch panic and witch trials, but I've learned some interesting things about Virginia proper and I'd recommend it if you're interested in the topic.
QOTW: I'm not particularly superstitious but we did have a salt shaker lid pop off during the run of a play I just finished and when we went to do the meet and greet after bows I grabbed a pinch and chucked it over my left shoulder in case someone in the audience was having anxiety about it.
I read Olive Kitteridge earlier in the week. I know I’m a few years behind but I thought I’d give it a try since the sequel is coming out. Loved it!
In the middle of The Huntress right now. It’s interesting but I’m sort of plodding along and not totally gung-ho. I think it’s because of the topic matter. I really want that bitch to get hers but I don’t know if she does so it’s making me anxious.
QOTW: All of my superstitions have been picked up from my grandmother - it’s bad luck to put a hat on the bed, open an umbrella inside, etc. I tend to knock on wood (or my head as a substitute) and bite my tongue.
I’m reading Behold the Dreamers and just kind of powering thru, it’s ok. I’m listening to Tge Keeper of Lost Things and enjoying it more. I struggled a bit to keep up with characters for a bit, which would have probably been easier with a physical book.
No real superstitions. I was a lot more superstitious playing sports and lucky stuff if we were on a winning streak.

This week I finished Waiting on Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey. It was predictable but a good fluffy read.
I read Is Every Hanging Out Without Me? By Mindy Kaling on audio. I found it pretty boring. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had watched The Office.
I also read I'm Just A Person by Tig Notoro on audio. Her story is astounding! I knew the story because I watched her documentary but the book got more detailed. She is one of my favorite comedians.
I'm currently reading The Witch Elm and The Last Black Unicorn.
QOTW: I never got into superstitions. I accidentally broke a hand mirror when I was like 8 and nothing bad happened to me so...
I finished Miracle Creek by Angie Kim, 4.5* I really enjoyed this book and will definitely keep an eye out for future books written by this author.
My daughter and I also finished The Witches by Road Dahl, 4* (my daughter's rating). I found the book dated, but my daughter loved it up to the ending. She would have preferred that the book continued to their taking out the rest of the witches around the world.
I started reading The Fact of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich. It is a difficult book to read. The book made me feel physically ill a couple times; I had to put it aside. I debated whether or not to finish, but I want to hear how about how the author overcame what she endured.
QOTW:I don't have any real serious superstitions. I may "knock on wood," but I'm not consistent.
I’m reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. Honestly I’m not impressed yet at about 100 pages in, but I’m hopeful I’ll figure out what all the hype is about. I like her YA books, especially the Grisha trilogy.
QOTW: I’m not very superstitious, but I am very good at finding four leaf clovers and have decided that I can only keep one each season. My self-made superstition is that if I keep more than one for myself, my luck turns bad. I end up putting them in waxed paper in library books to return.

I love Mindy Kaling and found her first book to be disappointing as well. I didn’t even bother with her follow-up(s?).
March Sisters: On Life, Death, and Little Women by Kate Bolick, Jenny Zhang, Carmen Maria Machado, and Jane Smiley (some essays were better than others)
Come and Find Me by Hallie Ephron (her worst book)
Stumptown Vol. 1 by Greg Rucka (the TV show that is based on this is cute so I thought I’d check out the graphic novel. It’s not bad but the illustrations are literally dark)
My Time Among the Whites: Notes from an Unfinished Education by Jennine Capó Crucet (very good)
Last Couple Standing by Matthew Norman (okay, takes place locally and mentions a lot of places I’ve been)
Your House Will Pay by Steph Cha (I liked it but the writing was pretty simplistic)
Finished: Evvie Drake Starts Over, barely 3 stars. It wasn’t good and I’m not sure why a book about a woman relying on men is bestselling material. The best part was when she finally got a therapist and that was at the end.

Over the weekend I made good progress on "My Lovely Wife" and "Last Summer".
QOTW: I don't think I have any current superstitions other than knocking on wood. As a middle schooler though I would hold my breath and lift my feet up when driving by a graveyard and had to wait to pass a white house with black shutters. R.L. Stein may have helped with this behavior lol.
