What are the benefits of having a glider vs a recliner in the baby’s room for breast feeding? Do you have one that you love?
I am short, so I always get recliners for furniture because I cannot otherwise touch the floor but I also see the rocking / gliding as important. We have an ottoman with our hand me down living room furniture, and it gets pushed out of place too often to be comfortable. I love the idea of reclining in the middle of the night feedings, though I have no idea if that is safe...
I know a few people recommended a chair from target back in the summer, but the search function isn’t helping me find the post. All the reviews I’ve read this morning sound like each chair on target or amazon are cheap, uncomfortable, and break in less than a year.

I think it depends on what you plan to use the chair for. If you're planning to have this in the nursery as your chair to feed in, soothe in, or just generally snuggle with a NB- I would go with something that has movement. Now, that being said, there are tons of gliders that are also recliners www.target.com/p/davinci-ruby-recliner-and-glider/-/A-52571654?preselect=52529800#lnk=sametab - they are not mutually exclusive. For me, we got a swivel rocker chair with an ottoman. It's so so comfy so on nights when baby was just overly fussy and I slept in their room, I v much appreciated it. I almost always nursed #1 in the chair, which wasn't very supportive though. It hurt my back a lot at the beginning. DD2 I nursed in our bed way more because she was an excellent side nurser so DH could just bring her to me, pop her on and I didn't have to do a ton. Once DD2 moved to her nursery, I used the same chair with no problems and I still love it and plan to use it for DS (baby #3).
ours does both. I have never once used the reclining feature though DH used it all the time. we ordered from a local baby furniture place but it's Best brand which i saw recently at buy, buy baby.
I've used the same glider + ottoman for both of my kids. Baby #1 didn't find rocking soothing, so a recliner would've been fine for nursing, then I was up walking to soothe her to sleep (ugh). Baby #2 is soothed by rocking, so being able to rock him to sleep instead of pacing the hall was amazing. On balance I'm glad to have a glider.
I'm short too, and found it helped to test them out in store before buying. Mine came from BBB.

Thanks, all. In my middle of the name haze, I was thinking an ottoman = glider and no ottoman = recliner. LOL. Thanks for pointing out that gliders can be recliners also.
I think it comes down to 2 parts for me: do I prefer a built in footrest rather than an ottoman and do I trust myself to stay awake if reclining. I assume the ones with the built in footrests / reclining do not continue to glide if the footrest is in use. I hate our ottoman in our living room, but being able to continue to glide while having my feet up might be more important than preferring a built in footrest.

I considered a recliner option for the glider, but went with just the glider function for three reasons:
1) A lot of reviews said they never used the reclining function 2) My first child likes being rocked to this day, but I have never wished I had a recliner in his room 3) I absolutely do not trust myself not to fall asleep in a recliner while nursing an infant. I know me. I would do this.
I got a rocking recliner (davinci piper I think. It maybe olive. I dunno.). I dont think I've used the recliner, but I knew I wouldn't use an ottoman and they take up too much space.

This is me. We have a glider in the nursery and it’s comfortable but not oh I wanna sleep here comfortable which is perfect. I never really used the ottoman TBH but it was a good height for our baby monitor cam haha.
I do also like that the glider we have has a lock option to keep it from rocking. This was helpful when helping DS learn to fall asleep on his own (it’s soooooo easy to rock absentmindedly instead of just holding them when you’re trying to break the rock-to-sleep association) and now that he’s older we keep it locked so that he can’t climb up and rock it like an amusement park ride.
I have a chair in each of my kid’s rooms that is both. I love that it reclines, because there have been plenty of nights that I have slept in it (not with the baby, just to be close).
