We are in the middle of finishing our basement. There are a few purchases that we may want to put on a credit card and pay off later. We currently have the Chase Freedom and Chase Sapphire Preferred. We use points exclusively for flights and will continue to do so.
I’m looking at opening a Capital One Quicksilver card that has 0% interest on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months.
Does anyone know if I purchase on my Chase Sapphire then transfer to the Quicksilver if I still earn my points on the Sapphire?
I’m fairly certain that they don’t deduct points when you transfer the balance so your plan should work! Most transfers though have a 3 or 4% fee so make sure you check that out to see if it’s still worth it.
The points should hit the Chase and stay. I have transferred balances before to maximize the same strategy that you're looking at, and I've never lost the points.
