I'm still chipping away at "My Lovely Wife", it's sucking me in to the point someone walking too close to my car freaked me out.
QOTW: I was a genie in 6th grade, but living in a colder climate I had to wear a bunch of warm clothes under it. Another year DH and I went as Little Pete and Artie the Strongest Man in the World from Pete and Pete. He's such a good sport, it was awesome, although only a few people got it.
I’m reading Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia, which is a lot of fun so far. I really enjoyed both of her previous books and this one seems like it won’t disappoint. Quirky plot and characters but written in a way that isn’t overkill.
Qotw: my kindergarten butterfly costume was my favorite. I’m still mad that I wasn’t allowed to wear it for trick or treating because it was too cold (most likely I was allowed, just with a coat added, and I was sure that ruined the costume).
I finished The Huntress earlier in the week. I think I'm in the minority in the sense that I didn't love it. I really liked Nina's narrative and could've read a whole book on just her section. I also read When You Read This and really liked it. Just started Amy and Isabelle last night. Good so far.
QOTW: When I was 7 or 8 my mom had a custom Dorothy costume made for me. I had hair down to my waist so it was easy to braid into two long pig-tails. I even had a stuffed Toto in a basket on my arm. I wish I could have more fun with it as an adult but I just can't get into it. This year my H is David Pumpkins and DD is a narwhal. I'll just take pictures of them while I bah humbug it inside with the cats.
I read The Hunger Games: 4 stars. It was good but I don’t have a desire to read the other 2 books. I’ve never seen the movies either.
QOTW: favorite costume was when I dressed up like a race car driver in college. It was really cute and I passed it on to my sister and cousin so it got a lot of good use.

Speaking of Hunger Games, need to do more research, but I heard there's a 4th book coming out...kind of curious where they could go from there? The first three were good, easy, quick reads. You might like Divergent, but pls. don't get to #3, you'll thank yourself later.
I finished The Fact of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich. This was a really difficult book to read and rate, it is emotionally dark and on a very difficult topic. There were times I had to put the book aside because it was too much and I questioned whether I should to pick it up again. This book disgusted me, enraged me, and made me want to cry. I didn't enjoy reading the book, but I think the book will stay with me for a while. In the end I gave it 3*.
QOTW: I have always loved Halloween. I have had a lot of great costumes that I loved, but none really stick out as my all time favorite. My mom made me a Snorks costume one year that was pretty neat.

It’s a prequel, set something like 20 years before the first book I think. I’m haven’t read much but I think it deals with Panem shortly after the rebellion.

Im waiting for divergent to become available at my library.
Your House Will Pay by Steph Cha (good but seemed like it was written for a low reading level?)
Catch and Kill : Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators by Ronan Farrow (fascinating)
Inside Out by Demi Moore (I would have liked more about her relationship with her children)
Little Voices by Vanessa Lillie (bad, somehow hinges on fishing licenses and incest?)
Made from Scratch by Sandra Lee (she had an awful childhood)
The Mother-in-Law by Sally Hepworth (good)
Now I’m between books! Four came in from the library on my Kindle today so I’ll have to start one. I also have Burn the Place by Illiana Regan out from the library as a physical book.
QOTW: one year I was a pair of dice with my brother! It was cute!

Should I read the other 2 hunger games books?
Catching Fire (#2) is my favorite of the series, but ends on a cliffhanger, so if you read #2, then it's hard not to read #3 for closure.
I’m reading Shakespeare’s landlord, enjoying it so far. I finished The Keeper of Lost things and highly recommend the audio.
I was Princess Leia in 2nd or 1st grade. For some reason we have no pictures from that year, but I loved the yarn wig my mom made me and the gold belt on my white dress.it was 1983-1984. As an adult, my favorite was the Statue of Liberty that I made myself, including paper mache book, torch and cardboard crown. It also happened to be 2001, but I’d been working on it before 9/11.
Earlier this week I read about a third of Zone One by Colson Whitehead. I just couldn't get into (it was slow and constantly jumping around in time) so I gave up.
Yesterday I started My Best Friend's Exorcism and it's a lot of fun. Very heavy on the 80s nostalgia and funny with a side of demonic possession. I feel like it would be a great movie.
QOTW: I had a cool homemade Statue of Liberty costume as a kid. My mom wrapped a flashlight in foil for the torch.

I finished Witchcraft in Colonial Virginia. It was pretty good but a lot of the information was pretty general to the history of witchcraft and wasn't new to me because I'll read just about anything on the witchcraft panics through history. It was really short because there aren't a lot of extant records documenting these cases in Virginia. I'm back to trying to finish Fire & Blood. It's taking ages!!
QOTW: I absolutely love dressing up for Halloween so I've had a bunch of costumes I've concocted as an adult. This is me this year, though, and I'm digging it. It was for a season reveal party at one of the local theatres where I've acted (pardon the blurry photo--DH isn't good at the photo taking).
Since I’ve last checked in I’ve read Tell Me More - Stories About the Twelve Hardest Things I’m Learning to Say by Kelly Corrigan and A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza (which I saw posted on here, and it was a good one, thanks!). Currently working on Waking Up White - And Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving.
QOTW: Some more memorable costumes have been with my twin - we went as the Minnesota Twins when they were in the World Series (I was Minne), a Siamese ghost once (my mother’s idea), the Doublemint Twins in college.

This week I finished The Last Black Unicorn. It wasn't great. I think she stories were good but the writing was awful.
Currently reading The Witch Elm and Yes Please.
QOTW: it's always so cold here on Halloween it's hard to have a cool costume. It's kind of jaded me. I've never dressed up as an adult. My favorite as a kid was probably when I was a punk rocker. My mom sprayed my hair purple and green and I wore a dress with a metal belt over it.
Still reading The Witch Elm, and OMG this book sooooo looooonggggg.
Finished Before the Wind last night (tacokick , this is the book I mentioned in the Friday randoms thread on ML). It's about sailing, was too heavy on sailing terms, and had too many quirky weird characters. I thought it was super boring, but all the old ladies in my book club loved it, because apparently they all grew up sailing?!? WTF?
And then there was the random bit of transphobia like I mention on ML.
**Poof** Replacing with something benign - I did learn that you can talk to the ISS with a ham radio. I looked it up and it's actually true. Kind of blew my mind.
I have finished: Betrayal in Time, Julie McElwain (book 4 in the series) 4* - I enjoy the series. I usually figure out who has done, as I think the author makes one clue rather obvious to the reader. Ceremony in Death, JD Robb (book 5 in the series) - they always have sex and are a bit dark, but good mystery.
Currently reading: After the Flood, Kassandra Montag - so far I like it.
QOTW: my mom made my brother an ET costume where we were kids, I wore it the next year. I remember her sewing all the time then and it was such a great costume, plus warm all on its own.
I’m currently reading book 4 of the Spellmans series-The Spellmans Strike Again. This has been a fun series! I wasn’t sure how’d I like it when I started it, but I’ve been sucked in.
I can’t remember if I posted this here or just on ML, but I finished The Bride Test and found a huge error in the book. Wrote the author, she blew me off. Checked the paperback copy, same error. Can’t believe no one has caught it and fixed it!
The book was good, but can’t get over the issue.
Finished Everything You Are which was a KU book, but good. Interesting plot that wove the stories together.
Now reading The Silent Patient, but it’s SO BORING. It better get better soon or it will be a DNF.
QOTW: I had a glow in the dark skeleton costume my mom made that was a sweatshirt and pants. So warm and comfy. I wore it until it was too small. I’m not a fan of dressing up.

Sassy I love your costume!
I'm not a super fast reader, but read all of the Hunger Games in less than a month. I've heard of people reading them in a day. Catching Fire is also my favorite. #3 is my least fav, but worth finishing the series.
