Just looking for tips on not washing my hair every day (to prolong the color) but still having it look decent on workout days. Maybe this just isn't possible. I sweat a lot. I've tried many brands of dry shampoo, tried using them at night and tried using them in the morning. Does anyone successfully do this?

I sweat a ton, too, and I wash my hair about every other day. I've found that Dutch braiding my hair to work out keeps it looking a lot nicer than if I have a ponytail. I think it moves/breathes better that way and helps it stay nice. Then I shower with it in a very loose bun, brush it out and air dry or hit it with the dryer for a few minutes.
I've tried different dry shampoos and haven't really seen any difference, and I don't really like how sticky it gets.
Lately I’ve been washing my hair Sunday morning and been able to work out 4 days during the week without washing until Saturday. I know that’s not possible for everyone and it does feel kind of gross by Thursday, but I’ve been told it looks fine by a trusted co-worker.
I straighten it Sunday night, use suave dry shampoo in the am and sometimes run a flat iron through it. Then after each workout I blow dry my roots and dry shampoo again right at the roots.

Like Wines Not Whines, I was reading something in a fitness magazine where the person said they rinse their hair with hot water every day but only use shampoo once a week.

When I was marathon training this summer, I was washing my hair about every other day. Now that it's cooler outside, and I'm running less (both in terms of days per week and distance) I'm back to being able to wash my hair 2 times a week. I sweat A LOT. This summer my hair would soaked after running, it was disgusting. I would spray some dry shampoo on it and then aim the hair dryer at it for a few minutes. I use a lot of heat on my hair when styling, so I really try to limit washing it for that reason. I also wore my hair in a ponytail more than I'd prefer this summer to avoid washing it sometimes.
I have no good tricks. I'm not really sure I'm even using dry shampoo right when I use it, LOL. The only somewhat useful trick for me is the second I'm done working out, I take my hair out of it's ponytail so it can start drying out. If I'm extra sweaty, I'll put a towel around my neck/under my hair, but it's not perfect. I guess as long as the top layer of my hair looked ok, I just deal with the gross underneath layers as long as I can.

I work out in the morning and wash my hair usually twice a week. What I use is this paddle brush hair dryer I have (my hair is straight) to dry the sweat and brush/style at the same time. If my hair is looking oily I add the dry shampoo (I use Batiste for blondes) and brush it through. If it seems really gross on that last day before washing I just wear it up.

This defeats the purpose for me - to avoid blow drying because it takes forever lol. I'd like to wash my hair more often but I just don't have the time or desire to blow dry it more often!

I wonder if this would be okay for keeping my hair color looking good? That's the whole reason I don't shampoo everyday, to keep my reddish brown lowlights looking good.

I wash mine every other day and can sometimes do an extra day. I workout at noon, and am very sweaty, so I blow dry the sweat out after my workouts and use dry shampoo if its needed. I find it works well for my hair, which is wavy/curly. I have had good luck with the Batiste brand at Target and Living Proof Good Hair Day.
You all inspired me to try this out despite working out in the AM.
I did not like the result. I felt greasy all day despite using dry shampoo. My hair was limp and I swear I could smell the sweat. Maybe it is because my hair is just past my chin? Perhaps this is a game only people with long hair can play. sigh
I do try to do this on non-work out days and I have great results. Day two always looks as good as day one.
