Because surely there's more to talk about than sandwiches?
I have TWO upcoming interviews - one this Friday, and another one (different company/position) next Wednesday. I'm reallyreally crossing my fingers for next Wednesday's.
I've been dreading Christmas drama this year - my mom has been complaining since they retired to FL that they don't get all of their kids anymore for Christmas (well, duh - you made plane tickets involved!), so last year she dibbs'd 2019 as her year and told us all to make plans to spend Christmas week together. She even got her neighbors to loan us their "cabin" (it's made of logs and all, but it's a really freaking huge house) in Ashville, NC for the week. Well, as of this week, the poor neighbors went to winterize their place and discovered a bunch of water damage, and they're not sure it'll be repaired in time. So my mom's newest great plan? My house. For the full week. I have 3 siblings. One has 3 kids (13, 2, 5 months), one is married, and one engaged. I have a very typical 4 bedroom, 2 bath house. We only use 2 of those bedroom as bedrooms, because I have one as my home office and one is M's computer/gaming room. I guess I can put air mattresses down if needed, but OMG. How are we going to hold ELEVEN EXTRA PEOPLE for a week without bloodshed? Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled not to make the 8-9 hour drive each way to NC, but ELEVEN EXTRA PEOPLE.
Oh, and my 2 weddings in 2 countries next May has turned into a spring wedding extravaganza - there are now 3 weddings in 30 days, with my BFF breaking my "never a bridesmaid" streak (I am always, always the person you want as your gopher/day of coordinator - don't stuff me in a dress and make me stand for photos when I can be running things around behind the scenes!). So that's 3 weddings, 2 countries, 2 states, 1 bridesmaid dress, and 1 sister of the bride/day of coordinator duty. Whee! At least I don't have to do anything for the destination wedding but check myself in to an all inclusive resort and remember to show up to the wedding on time. So long, 2020 vacation days - they're all going to get used for bridal showers and bachelorette parties and wedding travel.
Good luck chalupa! That’s a lot of people at your house! We’ll have 5 next with with A’s family visiting for a baby shower we are throwing and I am not looking forward to it. I like them all just fine, but sharing the house and entertaining 5 people on top of getting the shower ready and feeling uncomfortable most of the time sounds like a delightful 3 days.
Saw my doctor today and did the one hour glucose test that I’m hoping to pass. Otherwise the baby’s heart sounds good and he/she is moving around in there and running out of room. I feel like a stuffed sausage already and my belly isn’t even gigantic yet.
Oh my goodness chalupa you have a lot coming up!! Good luck on your interviews! I can't imagine having 11 extra people around.
doglove fingers crossed for your glucose test! Hosting 5 people when you're pregnant does not sound fun at all.
I feel like there's not much going on in my life lately. Work, fighting a cold that is maybe trying to be a sinus infection but maybe not, losing my voice some. The most exciting stuff has been my dating life. I had a first date Friday and he was nice, but I didn't feel any chemistry. Probably because I like the one other guy I've been dating. So I did a flash mob on Saturday and had told the guy I'm dating about it in case he and his son were going to be at the event, so he could avoid an awkward run in if he wanted to. Instead, he and his son were there and watching from very close to the front row the entire time!
I have been overthinking and anxious off and on and I'm really fighting with my brain to chill out. We don't have another date scheduled yet, but we are texting every day. Last night he texted me after he was done hanging out with one of his friends, then apparently woke up later and responded to one of my texts. When I asked what he was doing still up, he said he was waking up to respond to my texts, which is both ridiculous and adorable. So yeah, I'm only dating him at this point. And don't worry, I didn't officially meet his son yet, just made small talk about his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt.
chalupa, That is a lot going on. If I was your siblings I would probably rent a hotel room and not stay with you. When I used to dive to my inlaw's house I rented a hotel room. I like my privacy and not being in the way. Maybe one of them will do that, especially if you say you're sleeping on an air mattress for a week.
I have 13 work days until I am on vacation! I can not wait. I am heading to Australia. I haven't been on a vacation since last December and really need the break.
I just attended my g-ma's funeral and just got word today that my aunt, her daughter, is not expected to live more than a week. She's been declining for the past few years (early onset Alzheimer's). I'm feeling awful for my mom right now. And selfishly, a little annoyed that I'll have to deal with more family nonsense in Iowa in the near future.
I've watched hours and hours and hours of a murder trial happening in my neck of the woods. I've got personal connections, so I'm entranced by it all.
chalupa, 11 people in your house sounds awful! I'd find a new place to rent!
Sorry doriswe. Watching my mom decline rapidly in the past few years has been very difficult. I know it’s a cluster of emotions with early onset Alzheimer’s.
I would not have that many people stay with me chalupa. I’d just tell them how many you comfortably have room for and let the rest find someplace else to stay.
I FINALLY moved back in to my place and I’m traveling this week. Of course. It’s a fun vs work trip though so I suppose I shouldn’t complain. Meeting my sister and one of our friends in Vegas to see Lady Gaga. I’m not a Vegas fan generally but it’s my sister’s bday so...

I realized that it's November and I HAVE to take 8 days off by the end of the year or else I lose them! Cue I now have 12/24-1/1 off (woohoo). I think I'll also take 2 days off to put my kitchen back together. I guess I need to take 2 more random days off.
Speaking of the kitchen, I'm seriously ready for this to be done. This is week 6 and if we are completely done by the end of next week, I will be gobsmacked. I'm ready to not have people in my house all day long and to have my house put back together. On the plus side, they did the floors this week and they look AMAZING.
