I read Say You Still Love Me by KA Tucker: 3.5 stars. It was ok just a little long and drawn out.
I’m currently reading Catching Fire.
QOTW: I love to crawl up on the couch and watch a good movie with a drink. We are suppose to get flurries tonight and I would love do the above but I promised myself I would go to the gym so to the gym I shall go!
I read Amy and Isabelle earlier in the week and finished Stay with Me two nights ago.
I barely started Those People today.
QOTW: I'm a homebody in general but definitely when there's wintry precipitation. The perfect day would include hot chocolate, popcorn, a movie or a Netflix show, possibly a jigsaw puzzle, and a cat on my lap.

I finished Yes Please and still working my way through The Witch Elm.
QOTW: I typically spend as much of my life as possible in my recliner under a blanket. A cold evening would give me an excuse to be there clearing off my DVR or watching a movie.
I read Before She Was Found by Heather Gudenkauf, 3*. It was a quick, easy read that felt appropriate for Halloween week given the urban legend murders theme of the book. However, I was underwhelmed. I am almost finished with The River by Peter Heller. Other than being excessively detailed, I am enjoying this book overall.
QOTW: A fire in the fire place and working on a puzzle with the family.
I'm still painfully plodding through Fire & Blood. It's pretty repetitive with all the battles and intrigues. It rather lacks the wonderful interpersonal relations that the GoT series does so well, and wars and politicians are the most boring parts of history, real or fictional.
QOTW: I love a fire in the fireplace, and cozy blankets and kitties. A good book is nice, but if I'm too comfy I'll drop off to sleep! A good movie, too.
I finished The Testaments by Margaret Atwood. It was satisfying to have the story wrapped up, but this was not her best work for sure. All the plot twists were so obviously telegraphed. I feel like maybe The Handmaid’s Tale series made her think more like a tv writer, which isn’t her strength. I’m still glad I read it though.
I also burned through Ann Patchett’s The Dutch House. A good read.
I will be starting Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout, which will be fun. I love a good, ornery Maine character.
QOTW: H and I get through winter drinking chai tea or big bowls of Ghirardelli hot chocolate.
I finished Waking Up White - And Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving. She’s got a huge amount of historical white privilege and she examines herself critically and makes many attempts to be a better ally to POC. I’m also now partway through The Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger.
I’ve read 43 books so far this year and will hopefully hit 52. Volunteering this year, especially huge amounts this fall, has made me push off both some of the reading and exercising I usually like to do, but I’m still trying to do it all.
QOTW: It was a chilly blustery day yesterday, and after spending a big chunk of the day working on various projects in the house, I climbed under the covers to read for awhile, while the rest of my family also read and/or watched TV. We so needed the downtime and it was great to be low key for once.
I haven't been posting in these threads for a while and realized I need to get back into tracking my reading!
This week I finished The Witch Elm (thoughts in the book club discussion) and started a re-read of End of Watch by Stephen King (both audiobooks)
I also started The Fingersmith. It was a bit slow for me at first but I admit I didn't see the twist at the end of Book 1 coming at all, even though I knew it was that type of book, and now I'm very intrigued.
QOTW: I love winter. First I'll go for my ski, then I love to sit next to the wood stove or cuddle under a nice blanket with my dog and a good book.
This week I finished After the Flood by Kassandra Montag, 4*. I liked it, kept me interested. The premise feels a little too realistic with climate change.
Currently reading Alternate Sides by Anna Quindlen.
I am at 42/52 books for the year. Goodreads tells me that is 1 behind schedule.
QOTW: Like many of you - I want to curl up under a blanket with wither TV or a book and a warming beverage (typically wine or tea). If I am feeling active, I may go to a hot yoga class, which is darn effective!
I finished The Witch Elm for the book club discussion here (meh) and I started reading Your Perfect Year, which is an Amazon Kindle Firsts read (I thought it was going to be light and funny, but so far it's just really dull and boring). And since NaNoWriMo is going on, I started back up with Story Genius, which I read the intro to back in October, but then put aside.
QOTW: I love to put on a YuleLog from YouTube (because you can find ones that are 8+ hours) and open my blinds and watch it storm while my faux fire crackles and pops. Also any kind of winter beverage - eggnog, hot chocolate (spiked or not), tea, whatever.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
I read Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow. I liked it a lot better than his last book. Totally different topic, obviously. Also, I'm seeing him speak on his book tour this month.
QOTW: Books, obviously! I don't have a fireplace, sadly, but I like a pair of uggs and a blanket with a beverage (it varies from beer to tea to a manhattan to hot chocolate), curled up in our den/guest room with a cat or two (they always find me - sometimes all 3 of them).
