Mine was good. It was lazy. Like, I finally got dressed yesterday at 4:00, and then only because MIL was coming over for dinner. DS stayed in pjs until his bath, then new pjs. We needed a day like that. We are all feeling under the weather. I wasn’t sure DD was going to school today.
Which reminded me that none of us has gotten a flu shot. Damn it.

Our weekend was actually pretty good. Ran around to different kids' activities on Saturday, including 6:30 a.m. hockey practice for DS. Then yesterday was big water park with some friends. DS ran into a kid from his old soccer team at the water park, and they were so into each other. We ran into them again in the change and he and the other boy made me and the other mom exchange phone numbers so that he could have a play date. The other mom seemed nice, so I think I'll try to make it happen.
It was a pretty good weekend, but I'm tired. By the end of the day yesterday I was ready to lock my kids in their room and just have some quiet. The extra hour of daylight savings felt like 8 hours. They were just off the wall and slap happy by the time they went to bed. Then they woke up in the exact same overly silly mood, which is not helpful when we need to be out the door at 6:45 AM.
Then I got to work and I swear everyone took a stupid pill today. I've spent the morning answering really dumb questions. Like, if my email said "Answer A or B. Click here to submit your answer on the form" I received answers ranging from C to Z, half of them not submitting their answer on the form, and others asking clarifying questions that were spelled out in the original email. It's just been maddening. I'm already done for the day.
I caught DH's man cold. I took Friday off, spent most of Saturday and Sunday in bed. I'm at work because contractors are supposed to be at the house today, but I'd prefer to be holed up in bed again. Plus I'm not sure how much longer I can afford to not get work done. I think I may be in ear infection/sinus infection territory, which is totally fun. I just loaded up on Sudafed (the meth making kind) and hopeful that it will relieve some of the pressure.
We had a lazy weekend. The most we did was watch my sister's puppy for a couple hours yesterday. DD got sent home from gym Friday night as she was complaining of a sore throat and her ears hurt. She slept for 14 hours and was good as new. I think her coach was being extra cautious since 2 kids have strep on the team and another one has a nasty cold. DD also slept 14 hours Saturday night with the time change so that was great too. So a very lazy weekend.
I am exhausted. When DH is on shift for 24, I just do not sleep well/cannot fall asleep when he's not there. It sucks so bad. And DD had to be at school at 7:45 for dance club today. ugh.
ANYway-other than that, we had a pretty great weekend! Stopped by the library & park Friday after work. Saturday kind of lazy day/got a few things done/went to the fall festival in our 'hood. Oh, and DS had his first basketball practice Sat. morning. DH took him and said he did really well.
Yesterday my mom came up to spend the day & we had a great visit! Went to brunch and the mall. It has been quite a while since she has come for the day (she used to do it way more), so it was really nice to see her.
We decided on a low key weekend at home since we've had soccer since August, and tons of Halloween events and scout stuff. Saturday the kids watched way too much TV while I cleaned out our picture frames, bought some more from good will for school pictures to give to the in-laws, and got some of their presents done.
Sunday morning I finally (after talking about it for 4 years) made sugar scrubs for 4 women in the family, and put them in cute mason jars that I also got from Good Will. I had some cellophane wrap and cute ties, so I also wrapped them up. Honestly, they still don't look as cute as I would like because the jars are a little big for the product, and I don't have it in perfectly, but it is good enough. I've wanted to foray into home made Christmas gifts for years because buying stuff just feels so commercialized, I guess, but I always ran out of time. This year I thought OK if I am going to do this, then I need to do it the first weekend in November. Next year, I am thinking of paining ornaments. My mom used to do this all the time, but she was a hobbyist painter, and I am not, so the scene I am painting will have to be pretty easy. It was fun to be creative because I really haven't been since I was a kid because college and grad school and then small children.
Yesterday was super long with the time change. DS was being bratty and entitled with TV and his interactions with his sister. We went on a 2 mile hike which was super nice, and I thought might help us adjust. But then DD was up all night with nightmares last night, so we are all exhausted today.
Good weekend. I got to wake up naturally both days, which was nice. I stayed out too late at a Halloween party but it was fun. I really just wanted to have a PJ movie type day, but with the fall and heritage festivals and DS had some friends over, that wasn't in the cards.
Working today, then tomorrow the only thing I have is to drive about 1 hour from home to do a 5 minute TV segment, and drive home. We get 4 hours off to vote so yay!
Decent weekend. My oldest’s math teacher finally put in some grades on Friday so her grade went from a 44% F to a 76% C. Still phone grounded, but at least I can see she’s making some improvements.
DH was gone all weekend, came home last night and left again this morning at like 4:30am for the week. Sigh. He’s only 14 months from full military retirement (he will then get a regular civilian job) and I am ready for it!
The puppy chewed on my brand new stair rails which made me want to cry. Or go out and buy him $125 worth of puzzle treat toys to keep him busy. 🤷♀️
Our city built a new rec center that opens today, but they had an open house over the weekend. I’m totally motivated to work out right now. Course I don’t have the time, but if I did I would be all over it there, it’s so nice and fancy!
Middle DD is definitely following in older DDs footsteps with migraines. I thought recently that she might have had one, but she defintiely had one yesterday. Bummer. I guess I go back to carrying Advil everywhere... at least she can swallow them so if I don’t have it, it’s easier to get...

I'm tired. I slept terrible last night between waking up to let my dog out at 1:00 to pee (she's old, so can't make it through the night most nights anymore) and then having bad dreams after that.
Weekend was pretty good. DS played his first basketball game Saturday morning; they lost, but the other coach wasn't rotating his players fairly (he left his two best players in most of the game, while DH gave kids on DS's team fair playing time). DS had player assessment last night and will have another one Tuesday night for the club basketball team. DH said DS played well last night, but we're still anticipating he'll make the "B" team.
DD and I spent some 1-on-1 time together grocery shopping and also buying things for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes on Saturday morning, so that was fun.
I spent some time with a good friend yesterday afternoon - we ran a few errands together and then got coffee.
This week is going to be so busy with work and evening activities, I will be glad when it's over.

Decent weekend. We had a birthday party followed the next day by a play date. Spent some 1 on 1 time with DD which was fun.
Next weekend is the school's 5K/1K that I'm organizing so I worked on that some. The school is giving medals for the 5K and ribbons for the 1K. DS wanted to run the 5K to get the medal, so saturday and sunday we walked around the block (about .7 miles) and he was totally miserable doing that. He ended the weekend saying he'd do the 1K and just get a ribbon instead.
Work is already kicking my ass today too so...Monday.

DS2 had a birthday party Saturday so I had a blessedly wonderful hour to go to the grocery store. It was great....until I was rear ended. I was waiting to turn left and guy behind me wasn't paying attention and whammo. Thankfully a bystander called the police and waited to give her statement. I'm fine other than being stiff and having a minor headache - thankfully none of the kids were in the car. My van though, is rough. Getting a rental tonight and taking the car over to the collision repair shop tomorrow morning.
The man who hit me was 87 and kept asking not to call the police. But, he wasn't carrying insurance, gave me the wrong insurance company name, told the police some fantastical story about a car passing him and then my car being there (he told me he reached to get something off the floor), and tried to tell me his car had more damage so it shouldn't be a big deal. He wasn't impaired (the police had the same opinion), just old and trying to get out of trouble. It was sad.
@mrsgreeko,14 months. so close yet so far. My H is in the Guard. We are a minimum of 3 years and more realistically 5 years away.
H just left yesterday for 2 weeks. our anniversary is this weekend and since he is out by Vegas I am flying out to stay with him for the long weekend. My mom staying with my kiddos. This will be the first time H and I have left DD. Usually it is only one of us. She is almost 17 months and just leaving the stranger danger phase.
DD started doing the cutest thing over the weekend. When she wants to play peek a boo she covers her eyes and says 'where is she?" then we say 'there she is' and she does a full belly laugh. It is adorable. I am trying to get it on camera.
We had our annual chili cookoff on Saturday. I had too many seltzers, lol. I wasn't hungover, but my stomach was very mad at me. Last night, I was supposed to make ANOTHER chili for my cookoff at work today, but I just didn't want to. H on the other hand, was somehow not "chili-ed out" and as such was tinkering with the Instant Pot, so he made my entry for the festivities. He didn't win, but everybody was over the moon that my H made the chili I brought.
I have SO MUCH WORK TO DO AT WORK. We have a WFH day tomorrow, and I was telling everybody that I was actually going to be able to get work done b/c I didn't have anybody BOTHERING me all day. I hope I didn't offend anyone for saying that. They just never leave me alone, lol.
We had a soccer tournament this weekend and then the Cub Scout park clean up after the Sunday game. I took the boys solo to the Cub Scout clean up as dh had to drop his race stuff off which is a 4+ hour endeavor.
When we got home I had the boys helps with some landscape clean up at our house. We had some overgrown plants in the front that we had to trim back and added a little more mulch to freshen it up. The gophers destroyed our lawn so we aerated those spots and random other places and planted some ez seed grass seed we have had sitting outside for at least 18 months. So we shall see if it takes or not. I have low expectations. But the boys were great helpers so I let them choose dinner. We feasted on McDonald’s. Lucky me.
Ds2 (3) was running around on the sidewalk with a red broom shouting red light to all of the cars that passed. It was amusing.
But I think we wore them out. They were actually in bed at 7:30 reading books and sleeping by 8:10. It was amazing.
We did the AHA Heart walk as a family on Saturday. Very little complaining from the kids this year which was nice. They know it’s important to me so they just go with it now.
Then DH and I went in on overnight date which I don’t think we have done before (other than for weddings). Kids loved it because their favorite babysitter stayed the night. We traveled to Princeton, stayed in a fancy inn, walked to dinner, then walked to the theatre to see a play. Unfortunately, I’m ridiculously sleep deprived, and at that point, three plus Gins in...and I had a hard time staying awake for the 2.5 hr show. But it was good. Walked back to the inn, slept well and had crepes for breakfast before driving the hour home.
Saturday I drove 30 mins to drop DS off at practice, raced home and made my friend chili, drove 20 mins the other way way to deliver, then the 50 mins to pick up DS. Regular chores and errands.
Sunday I took all 3 to DS’s tournament. He took third, but fenced kids 4 years older than him so that’s was great!
I’m sick, exhausted, the coughing hurts my muscle repair. I’m probably taking tomorrow off.
I’m in a hotel in Omaha and pretty much certain I’m sick. I am dropping balls because I’m overwhelmed and overworked and have zero work-life balance. I told DH I feel like this could be called “No Show November” because I’m traveling every flipping week this month.
On top of all that, DS’s teacher asked if he needs glasses. We thought no, until he spontaneously mentioned he can only see what his teacher writes on the overhead if he gets “really, really close”. Which could explain why he’s having a hard time following along with work. So I’ve scheduled an ophthalmologist appointment for him on one of my days in the office and another appointment with a psychologist who is going to do an educational assessment. The first appointment is just a parent interview and can happen in... November, of course. Then we will move on to his full day of testing in December, which was her first available day.
mommyatty, just wanted to say sorry you are not feeling well. All that travel definitely sounds overwhelming! I personally would be having many meltdowns if I had to travel that much!!
Today will mark my 3rd consecutive day off work, and I had a weekend thrown in. I’ve never felt this lazy before.
Tried to get a doctors appointment (with any doctor, not just mine) and they can see me next Monday which is.. “helpful.” I have a phone appointment this afternoon, but I think basically this thing is just going to run it’s course.
I went in this am and got a bunch done before my dr appt. I don’t know what the dx was but got cough medicine w codeine and an inhaler. Dr kept waffling on an antibiotic (I hate taking them if they aren’t necessary) so she wrote it in but I didn’t fill it.
Took the afternoon to eat Cheetos, sour cream and onion chips, little Debbie starcrunch, and watching RHOC while playing candy crush.
Weather rant: Last week it was cold and clear with lots of sunshine but so dry DD's hair was standing on end when she walked to close to a wall. This week we are stuck with fog and air stagnation that is making my head throb and me feel just blah. Can we just go back to raining?
