Our gymnastic team is hosting a big meet at the end of the month. All families have been asked to donate a kids raffle basket. I'm totally stumped at what to do.
WPs give me ideas on what you would do for a basket.
Going into winter baking season, maybe a cookie baking set? Cute mixing bowls, some spatulas, rolling pin, cookie mixes, cookie cutters, mommy and me matching aprons (moms are a sucker for anything matching!).
You could do a spa one - face masks, nail polish, body scrub, etc. Maybe throw in a manicure gift certificate to a local place, depending on how much you want to spend.
hocus2, We are hosting compulsory state so I think there is 7 or 8 sessions. Each session is a different group of gymnasts and I think they want 4 baskets per session. The meet DD and I went and watched the club raffled off 4 baskets for the level 3 session. Our club has about 40 families which is where they are getting each family has to do their own basket. This all new to me.
Our Girl Scouts does this, but I think it is aimed more a the girls. They spend about $100 or $150 of troop funds per troop. One of the mom's said she is a great sale shopper, so she did a craft basket of all these craft kits and other craft supplies that were on sale at Target, but you could also get good stuff at Michaels with their sales and coupons. The latest basket is Unicorn themed. I don't think Unicorn would work for the entire family lol, but might if it is aimed at the girls.
Game night - lots of different board/card games , m&ms , card holders
Movie night - Redbox tickets, dvds, popcorn, blanket, boxed candy
Game night is what I was going to suggest. After DD's walkathon/silent auction, we are now the proud owners of 6 new board games and a couple gift cards for dinner.
Murder mystery kit: a boa and tiara, baseball cap and bat, ascot and monocle, murder weapon, dead dog. Four cards with one that says murderer. Everybody draws. Then the one that has the murderer card has to figure out a way to hide Muffy and the weapon without anyone seeing. The others have to find it and guess who killed Muffy.
Punkrock salon: different colors of hair gel/hair chalk, crimper, scrunchies, hairspray, bows
Digestion aid kit: Tums, Exlax, Febreze, fart noisemaker or this.
Craft supply baskets are always a hit at our school. And books! Usually we end up with a basket full of random books - picture books, easy chapter books, etc. That one is always popular too.
What about a gymnastics basket? Like a gift card to your client who sells leos, a cute tee shirt that says something about gymnastics, ponytail holders, stuff like that.
mommyatty, the lady organizing the baskets specifically asked to not do a gymnastic themed basket, ugh. Plus my leo maker client is retiring in May. She has developed arthritis in her hands and shoulders which is making it very painful to sew. I'm going to miss my free leos but also a ton of people are going to miss the $15 practice leos that she sells at the gym. Most online sites sell practice leos for $30-$50.
Talked with a couple level 4 moms last night and they told me less than $15 and go simple. Also one big craft kit is considered a basket.
HeartofCheese, I think the murder mystery basket is amazing and totally using this for the big spring state meet that is for level 7-10. I think a bunch of teens would get a kick out of that.
Our fifth graders recently did a bacon-themed basket at our fall festival, complete with bacon-flavored snacks, bacon kitchen items, even bacon duct tape.
What about a Descendants basket? Or Hello Kitty? Or if a craft kit counts, go to Joann Fabric and look in the clearance section. They have super cute crafts for kids!
I work for a major consumer brand and get discounted products. So that has dictated my baskets in the past. I have done boo-boo baskets (bandaids, anti-itch cream, anti-septic cream, etc) I have also done a basket with moisturizing products of one particular good smelling brand (body wash, hand cream, body lotion, etc)
I also like margarita baskets. Good tequila and all the fixings.
Edit- oh wait, this is for kids? Scratch the tequila.
