I was admitted to the hospital Friday evening after a routine NST showed the baby's heartrate slowing down each time I had a contraction. She's doing good, has gone the entire weekend or basically since I've been in hospital without any additional decels, but my numbers indicate that I'm on the verge of developing preeclampsia. I don't have it yet, but the drs think I would develop it eventually at some point, a week from now, possibly two weeks, etc. So they're keeping me here until I hit 37 weeks tomorrow and then I'm having this baby!
This was completely unexpected so both my H and I feel rather unprepared. We had to scramble to make arrangements for child care for our toddler (thankfully my sister is able to come into town today) and buy up a few of the last minute things needed for baby. So it's been a bit of a weekend to say the least, especially for my H who has been trying to do everything while keeping a small child entertained. On the plus side at least this happened this past Friday so she's not coming on the 18th (her older sister's 3rd birthday). Ha.
I also just realized we are on a BMB board together as I was reading your post since it sounded familiar! I'm under a different screen name, but I was the first one over there to have my baby if that gives you an idea who I am!

You got this! The same thing happened to me. Baby showing decels at my 36 week appointment and OB admitted right away for induction. Nothing was ready, no hospital bag etc. The nurses helped slow down the induction by a few hours so DH could get a flight back to be there for the birth. I had a friend come with some toiletries and my mom came with my older kids and the carseat. Baby spent some time in the NICU - nothing serious just needed some oxygen. She's five months now and doing great!
