lifetaketwo - we taught DD (2.5) to spot out toothpaste by doing a very exaggerated “puh puh puh” sound when spitting. It took a few weeks but she got the hang of it relatively quickly doing that. Does your kid suck the toothpaste off the brush or keep their mouth open while you brush? Once DD stopped sucking toothpaste and opened her mouth “like a momma whale” for us to brush, she did way better.
melmaria DD was standing/cruising at 9 months and started walking just before 10 months. Get ready for the fun!!

melmaria, E crawled at 9 months (5.5 adjusted), but didn't walk until 16 months (12.5 adjusted). She was standing and cruising the furniture for months before she walked.
How long after your baby started standing/cruising did they walk?
DD has hit some physical milestones on the early side - started full legit crawling at 6.5 months and pulling herself up to stand/cruising around her crib/the coffee table at 7 months. People have told me it only took a couple months to go from cruising to walking...but there's no way my baby is going to be *walking* at 9 months, right??
My DD2 walked at 9mo. It was a total PIA to be honest.
Any ideas on a gift from Santa to all the kids at our Christmas party? Last year we did a little set of a Christmas coloring book, crayons, and stickers. Kids are 2-8, although most are 4-6.

My son could pull to stand and cruise at 5.5m (seriously) but didn’t crawl until 8m and didn’t walk til 11.5m.

A can of Play Doh? Costco has big packs you can break up for everyone.
Not at all? I have 2u2 intentionally, as do many people I know. The gap has its challenges but that’s true of any gap.
That’s good to hear. What about 2u1? That’s my preference but SO isn’t sold. I’m not sure it’ll even be possible since DD is ebf, but...
If you want my honest opinion, yes.
I know it happens to people and they obviously survive but I can’t imagine having a infant and non walking 11 month old (and neither of my girls were walking at 1). Plus your body needs time to heal and recover. Nursing, pregnancy and childbirth are all huge stressors to the body.
I’m feeling the pressure of my age (almost 39) pretty significantly. We both really want another, and I’m feeling hyper aware of the increasing risk and difficulty as time goes on. Not really sure how to balance all of it.
How insane am I for thinking about intentionally having 2u2?
I did and my girls are just barely 16m apart and I love it. I was ready to start trying again almost immediately after having DD1. I think there is a thread here somewhere where I am 8wk post partum asking about trying for a second. LOL. It’s tough for sure, especially when they are both babies but I wouldn’t change it for a second.

We’ve been talking about it seriously since 3w pp, I understand lol. I wonder if I can find the thread!

Sorry to tell you this but this was my DD’s crawl to walk timeline almost exactly haha! I always say I think the only reason she bothered crawling was so she could get to places to pull up and learn to walk.
This is not a question but when I looked for my TTC with a 7wk old thread I found a "what should I name my non yet conceived child" thread I started and I stated my DD2s name as being vetoed by DH. I don't remember that at all but apparently I am pretty persuasive.

That is ALL my DD wants to do right now. She's not interested in any of her toys ATM. She likes to pull herself into a standing position, cruise around, sit down, over and over and over again all day.
My mom says I was a lazy/chill baby and not like this, lol.
Yes that was my DD. She was using the stand up walking toy frequently by 8 months. She did 11 steps for us the day before she turned 10 months. I swear at 4.5 she hasn’t sat down since lol!

I’d be really surprised if you could manage to conceive 2u1 while EBF. I didn’t get my period back until I was ~14 months pp with my EBF DS and even now with my DD who is 80/20 BF/FF I don’t have it back at 6+ months PP. Youd’d likely have to wean to even get close.
That said, my mother has sisters both 10 months older and 10 months younger than her and somehow my Nana survived (and with 7 additional kids to boot). I’d rather throw myself off a cliff, but ya know, different strokes lol.

That’s been on my mind, too. DS was ebf, and I have absolutely no memory of when my period came back- I’m pretty sure it was before 6mo pp though (but no idea what I’m basing that off of lol). I nursed him until 3+, and had a bfp/miscarriage when he was 1.5/2.
I will not wean just to have 2u1. Not even sure I’d do it for 2u2.

I got my BFP the day after DD1 turned eleven months and my milk supply instantly plummeted. It wasn’t a huge deal because she was a month away from being one, but just something else to consider.

I can't imagine a doctor would recommend 2u1 and EBFing. Even if you could achieve it, it would be so incredibly hard on your body's resources. I would get my OB's input before doing it intentionally, and probably want to get outside of AT LEAST 1 year. That's not even considering the lifestyle challenges of 2u1 (or even 2u2).
I also would not have been able to achieve it. I have EBFed both kids, and didn't get my period until DD was 11m. Time will tell with DS, but he's 6m and it isn't here yet.

I have my 6w pp appointment on Monday, and SO wants to talk to the OB about everything/options/risks about waiting, not waiting, my age, everything. I’m pretty confident they’re going to say wait at least a year because that seems to be the standard recommendation.
mccallister84 ugh good point I’d forgotten about that possibility.
