Read: The Strange Journey of Alice Pendelbury - This book was just odd. I figured out the twist early, but the ending was just out in left field. Maybe it was the translation? I don't know.
The Silent Wife - DNF - what a snooze
Currently Reading - A Simple Wild - it's ok, but ufcasey's review on GR says it's amazing, so I'm pushing through hoping I stop wanting to shake the main character.

I finished The Possible World, which was fine but not anything great. Just started The Testaments — I feel like everyone else has read it already. I have heard mixed reviews, so we’ll see.
Qotw: Another New Kids on the Block here. I think I liked Donnie but I can’t remember which was which anymore.
I finished The Two Lila Bennetts by Liz Fenton, 2* and Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, 1*. I'm almost halfway through A Better Man by Louise Penny. So far it's much better than the other books I read this week.
QOTW: I don't recall ever having a crush on a celebrity.
I just read The Wives and have decided that I am totally over thrillers. Blah.
QOTW: In sixth grade, I was wildly in love with Joey Lawrence. I owned both of his CDs and played them on repeat for hours upon hours. I have no idea how this crush started since I didn’t watch Blossom.
I finished The Guardians this week. It started out slow but I ended up really enjoying it and thought it did a good job of exposing real problems.
QOTW: Hm. Not entirely sure. I think maybe Kirk Cameron from the Growing Pains days. Which, ew, I hate admitting that. My loyalties shifted to Leonardo DiCaprio pretty quickly once he entered the show. After that I'm sure it was one of the New Kids just like every other 11 year old in 1989.
ETA: I lied. Patrick Sawzye, Dirty Dancing. I’ve seen the movie approximately 8 billion times. Also yes Brad Pitt was super hot in Legends of the Fall!
I have been reading Children of Virtue and Vengeance for over a week but I am only 1/3 of the way through. I just haven't had much time to read but I am traveling for work this week so I should be able to make some progress.
QOTW: Probably River Phoenix and/or Wil Wheaton in Stand by Me. Hell, I still have a crush on Wil Wheaton.

QOTW: New Kids on the Block
You won’t but it’s still good
Well crap. She is insufferable and all the things wrong with millennials.
I’m still reading The Body - A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson. I love anatomy and physiology, so am familiar with a lot of the stuff he’s talking about, and I’m liking it a lot.
QOTW - Legends of the Fall (or LOTF/lowtiff as we used to call it) was great in its awfulness! My sister and I had at least one (or maybe two?) posters of Brad Pitt from that movie on our bedroom wall for a long time.
I read The Dearly Beloved. It was very good. I started The Lager Queen of Minnesota last night and like that so far.
QOTW: I can't say for certain who my first crush was but I do remember seeing The Legends of the Fall (awful movie) and thinking Brad Pitt was so hot.
Whaaat?! I love that movie!! I agree with you that Brad Pitt was super hot in it!
In my defense the first and last time I saw it I was 12 or 13 and it felt like a long, overly dramatic movie that's only redeemable feature was a shirtless Brad Pitt.

Sorry!! She is really self-centered at first but she does get better. I mean, better for her, so maybe not enough. I obviously was able to overlook it but I can see your point of view. Hopefully your next book is better!

I'm reading Gifts by Ursula K Le Guin. It's readable but slow and I'm not sure what direction it's going. It's part of a trilogy and the first one I've read by the author. I'm hoping it's going somewhere because she's been so highly recommended by many.
QOTW: Either Wil Wheaton (Stand by Me) or Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys). I forget who was first for me.
Hi - I'm a long contributor to the CEP board. I accidentally clicked on this page today and thought I'd share. Hope that is ok.
Just finished The Scottish Prisoner which is one of the Lord John Grey series, a spin off of the Outlander series. I'm jonesing for the 9th book of the Outlander series to come out so I've been soaking up as much ancillary writing as I can. Now... I have to wait.
QOTW - I'm embarrassed to admit this but I think my first celebrity crush might have been Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard. I can't remember whether I crushed on him first or Jack Wagner (Frisco Jones from General Hospital). I had a little 45 of Jack Wagner's one hit wonder in the 80s that I listened to all the time while wearing my I <3 Bo night gown with Bo Duke's face on it.

young meowmaps is forgiven, lol! It really is a good movie, imo!
