Thinking of planning a trip to CA for spring break with our 9 yo DS. He's wanted to go to Legoland for years; but is he too old for it now? A lot of what I am reading leads me to think he is
We were there with a 8 and 9 year old and my kids loved it. It is optimized for a younger kid so you'll just have to know your kid a bit. The rides are not particularly thrilling but there is ton of lego to obsess over. My kids were surprisingly interested in the models of star wars and major cities. The water park was not fully open which was a big bummer for us.
The 2 lego hotels have entertainment at night which my kids also really enjoyed.
I took my kids at 6/4 and again at 9/7. They loved it both times. And DD does enjoy roller coasters but was totally fine with the 3/4 options they have (at least at the FL location). And they still LOVED the hotel.
A lot of the rides are geared toward younger kids. But if your kid is a big Lego fan, he will have a great time. There is a lot to see. We did the water park for the first time this past summer and we all loved it. My kids are 6 and 9. Highly recommend.
I also wanted to mention that if your son is at all interested in gems, Legoland is right next to the GIA. They offer free tours but you have to call at least 24 hrs in advance. It is really cool.
