No idea on this one and google searches so far are fruitless. We need to tell the contractor where to mount the hand towel rings. Our options are to the outside of the sink and vanity, between the sink and the hutch, or on the hutch.
I feel like options 1 or 2 looked awkward/cramped, but the designer says she prefers not to mount into cabinetry. No reason given, but I assume because once you drill into cabinetry, you’re committed to having a hole in it.
Here’s the space (messy since we just got back from a trip):
I dont have a great solution, but we aren't mounting on/near the cabinetry because it'll get water splash marks over time. What about a countertop towel holder?
I finally opted to use just one towel holder mounted to a wall, but we don't have cabinets in the middle of the vanity.
Of those options 1 is best (to the left). That is a more natural placement to me. I agree about not mounting to cabinets, it severely limits your options in the future.
We still don’t have our towel bars selected or mounted and we’ve been in our house for 6 months. I should go see if there’s a boxing week sale on the ones I want.
After our bathroom was finished we didn't put our towel rings up for the longest time while we debated. Eventually the towels sitting on the counter drove me crazy and we installed them. One of them was easy, but the other presented essentially the same debate you're having. I didn't WANT to put them into the cabinet, but we ultimately did. I didn't spend all this money and effort on a bathroom designed within an inch of its life, only to have a permanent THING sitting out on the counter top to hold the towel. Clutter drives me crazy, plus with 4 people using one full bath, there's enough other clutter that we need to reduce where we can. We thought about mounting to the wall behind the sink, along side the mirrors, but our kids are 4 years and 6 months respectively. It will be years before they can reach there, and I need order and serenity now. The cabinet is solid wood; if I absolutely must we can figure out refinishing in the future.
ETA: This one was the easy decision:
We really debated on the 2nd one. Go without a hand towel for the right sink? Put it between the mirrors? There wasn't really room to the right of the right mirror. Eventually we did it opposite the first towel ring, in the cabinet. I totally get why people might not want to do it, and it took me months to decide it was kind of necessary, but it definitely is what works best.
I would hesitate putting a hole in the cabinet too. This is far less fancy, but maybe you could use a command hook as a temporary option to see if the placement is worth it.
I would put it on the hutch, but the Command hook idea is a good one to test your options. I feel like you'll get a lot of water splashes on the mirror if you mount it in that cramped space between the mirror and hutch.
#1 for sure. But I agree with someone above- could you do something slimmer? We have a hook that is like a capital L coming from the wall in our powder room because of size. I much prefer it to the ring that used to be there.
