Since I've shared with this board so many stories over the years about my dysfunctional office, I figured I should close the chapter out.
It took me nearly two years of job hunting to land the job I have held for the last ten years. In October, I moved back to DC while working remotely for them. I reached out to the only two firms here in my field where I had super strong contacts for assistance in looking for work here, and both of them ultimately wound up offering me jobs.
One of them turned out to be even more screwed up than my current firm, so I passed on that.
But the other one is amazing. I accepted the offer yesterday and quit today. Based on the very impressive bios of their more recent hires, I never thought I'd even be considered, much less be in a position where they'd create a position to bring me on. So I'm feeling pretty awesome and very excited about my life right now. While there were some good things about my current firm and they clearly set me up well for this next step, I'm very much looking forward to being done with them at the end of the month.
So my apologies to all of you, but the days of stories about weird-ass retreat activities are over.
