I didn't see this already posted anywhere, so what were the highlights of your 2019? What are you most proud of? What was the best thing that happened or that you did?
Boston Marathon - I ran a solid race with 3:36:25. I'm proud that I overcame the warmer humid weather and pushed through.
JFK 50 miler - This was a bucket list item and I'm proud of the race I put together. I smashed my goal of under 10, I was 34 out of 214 women. I had never run trails before 6 months before the race and was able to conquer the Appalachian trail without breaking anything and at a decent pace.
2019 in 2019 - More miles than I've ever run.
It was a good year for running and this year I'm trying to add some variety to my workouts and not have any big goals so I can work on swimming.

Chicago Marathon - I PR'd it by 9 minutes. The whole experience was amazing, from the training up through race day.
Turkey Trot - I PR'd this by 2 minutes. I put zero effort into training for it specifically, and had I been paying more attention at the beginning, I likely would have run it slower. I got carried away by a group of "fast" runners and trying to stay with them. Which I did.
I ran a total of 1,309 miles in 2019. More than I've ever run in a year before. Obviously marathon training helped, but so did the fact that I didn't get injured at the marathon and was able to resume running a week later.
2019 was amazing for me running-wise. I'm hoping for a similar 2020.
NH&FR-birthing a baby in June! And not letting having to take my blood pressure 2x/day for 2+ weeks drive me nuts.
H&FR-I was able to run through my 32nd week of pregnancy, and worked out at the gym until ~35 weeks (when my OB grounded me due to the aforementioned BP issue). I was hoping to run longer but I rolled my ankle pretty good on Memorial Day and decided that was enough of that.
I PRd in my Turkey Trot 10k! To be fair I don’t think I’ve ever had a strong 10k, but I’ll take the confidence boost it gave me.
It was a bizarre health year for me, so it was a big highlight to get past that mess. A blood clot was found in my pulmonary vein in May and I had a cardiac ablation in early September, and I got the okay to stop with the blood thinners finally and I came back from the ablation quickly, and now feel back to my normal!
Last highlight was just that I feel like I gained a bunch of fitness through OTF and I found my joy in running again!
I ran my first half marathon! And also my second! Both on trails, which was super fun. Don't ask me my times, I have no idea, because that wasn't the important part.
Winning a race for the first time! Small 5k trail race, but it's still cool that I got 1st place.
I spent most of the year pregnant, so my H&F stuff was minimal. Having my daughter has by far been the highlight.
I did train for and walk/ran a half marathon during first trimester and I'm proud not only to have done it, but pleased I managed to keep up my training despite morning sickness issues

Started my career in abortion care - love it. Also doing a lot of advocacy. Read 12 books for pleasure. Continued my yearly solo international vacation - Peru. Completed the Chicago marathon on my quest to do the 6 world marathons. Felt confident during the swims of my 2 triathlons.

Paris Marathon- truly an awesome experience. I'm glad I backed off my initial PR goals and decided to just enjoy. Really our whole trip to France/Belgium/Amsterdam stood out as the highlight of the year.
Twin Cities Marathon -2 min PR! @ 3:49:XX. Great course, fun trip and I checked off another state. I worked with a coach for the first time during a training cycle and was very happy with it. Overall ran significantly less than any other marathon training cycle, he accounted for my other events and built biking into my schedule.
Other H&F stuff - Took first in my age group for a half marathon & a PR in the 10K.
Whiffing on my big biking goal was lame, but I still reached the best bike conditioning of my life and rode my bike for over 100 miles MULTIPLE times over the course of the year, which is crazy when I think about training for my first century and how hard and scary it was.
Also I started a new job where my personal values perfectly align with the company values and it's a little overwhelming at times because I care a lot more, but it's also amazing.

My big H&F highlight was running a half marathon. My last one was in 2011 and I wasn’t consistent with my running at all since then. It also wasn’t a great race and I was having bad hip pain but I powered through and still got a PR by over 3 minutes. I also gave it my all, and left nothing in the tank.
My non-H&F highlight was really putting myself out there and making new friends. I had multiple really good friends move away in the last few years and I work from home so trying to meet new people was hard.
We tried to get pregnant in 2019. It didn’t work. This year I’ll be able to focus a little more on fitness goals. My friend and I have been contemplating swimming Alcatraz October 2020. We aren’t a solid yes yet. But it’s something to look forward to. I’d also like to finally get to a 10k open water swim this next summer.
