Someone was trying to blackmail her, so she made a beautiful video about her being MTF trans. She started transitioning when she was 14.

Yes and I LOVE that she did this. I had to show it to my sweet makeup loving AFAB son and it made him so happy to see such a big name is also trans. Representation really DOES matter.

ETA: part of why this matters is because people tend to have an idea of what transfolk look like. I know people will come out of the woodwork to say they always suspected or that she looks a certain way, but she’s been around for 11 YEARS and it’s never been a thing that has come up. It goes against some of those stereotypes and that’s a big deal.

So, there's pretty heavy speculation that it was people connected to the TooFaced brand that tried to blackmail her. Which, she recently spoke out about them taking advantage of her for the collaboration they did. Just something to watch, and maybe add to your do not buy list.

They also pulled shady things such as sending out PR of the pallette which was a much higher quality than was sold in stores.

I have to say I was so surprised with her coming out like that. She doesn't owe anybody a explanation or required to come out to her fans. She is amazing and one of my favorite reviewers and make-up artists. Her honesty is refreshing.

YES I thought it was so beautiful and honest and brave. One of my first thoughts was HOW FORTUNATE she is to have grown up in Denmark where doctors would start hormone treatment so young. I can't see that being the American healthcare experience.

FYI we're doing a lot of gender affirming care for kids/teens these days. Puberty blockers, hormones, etc. Obviously if one lives in a rural area it might be a little more difficulty to access care, but a lot of children's hospitals have gender affirming care centers. But even outside of academic centers there are also doctors doing this work. Just thought I'd share for those that don't know

Anyway, her video is great. It sucks she was blackmailed and couldn't come out on her own terms. 
I'm glad overall though it seems like she's gotten a lot of support.

Ok so now I'm down the rabbit hole of what's going on with Too Faced...so the founder is ok with Nikkie and wrote kind words about her, but it was the founder's sister that was nasty and she got fired, but maybe not?? pixy0stix
