Positive Update: updated (not as positive)

My H has spoken with the estate agent this afternoon and it does appear that the two outstanding issues for the house that our sellers are trying to buy will be finalised soon, which means they can move forward on the purchase and on selling to us. The final survey report (survey done last week) will be delivered at the end of the day or Monday. The final issue regarding the basement has been verbally agreed. It just requires the paperwork to be signed.

I'm hopeful that we should be in a position to exchange contracts at the end of next week (no turning back). I believe that the sellers are looking at exchanging on Friday, 24th Jan with completion on or around Friday, 7th Feb. And that would be the date we'd get the keys.

My H texted with the owner of our future home and he's very hopeful that things can progress quickly enough that we can exchange in a week. They are going on holiday the following day, so we're encouraging him to sign all paperwork so that if it needs to be postponed a few days, it can still happen and we can complete by the 7th (they'll be back from holiday on the 2nd Feb).

Update: not everything has gotten done this week so no exchanging contracts tomorrow. They are waiting for the council to sign off on one thing (might happen on Monday) and to get answers from two things on the survey (also might be done by Monday). They would like to exchange on Wednesday and complete on the 7th (still). We're meant to go inspect the house on Wed, so we might ask for exchange on Thursday if things go as planned, so we can make sure the house is still in good order. So, cross your fingers that we can exchange next week. We have storage until the 19th and would prefer to be able to get new carpeting in before we move our stuff.
