I’m rereading the Tana French books after watching the TV show. I forgot how long they are.
The Last Affair by Margot Hunt
Remain Silent by Susie Steiner
Be Everything at Once: Tales of a Cartoonist Lady Person by Dami Lee
QOTW:
I want a holiday that’s just candy giving. I don’t want to dress up for it, I don’t want it to be part of a religious holiday or Valentine’s Day. I just want to give candy to someone and receive it. Preferably in like June when nothing else is going on.

This week I (finally) finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes, My Sister the Serial Killer and This Will Only Hurt A Little by Busy Philipps. ABOSAA was a rough book. Especially for Claire. I also saw a preview for the next Season of Outlander on Starz and it looked like it is following the plot of ABOSAA. Did they skip TFC? I feel like last season was Drums of Autumn.
Busy's book was really good too. I laughed and cried a lot. And I just really like her a lot.
I'm currently reading Girls of Storm and Shadow. Not far enough to have an opinion yet.
QOTW: A holiday in the dead of winter where everyone gets off work/school to read. I'm not very creative.
The institute by Stephen king: 4.5 stars. This was my first King book. It’s was really good.
Keeping Lucy by T Greenwood: 5 stars. Amazing book but extremely sad. The language can be jarring at times but you have to remember it takes place in the 60s/70s. My only gripe was that everything was nicely wrapped up at the end which was a little disappointing.
Both books were very @ focused.
@@@@ QOTW: A book reading holiday in which my kids can’t disturb me while I read?! @@@@

I finally finished "Dare Me" 2*'s, way too many mean girl body image judging issues. Working on "My Sister the Serial Killer" and hope to start "We Came Here to Forget".
QOTW: Something no stress where people come to me? Maybe a book reading holiday, or an adult sleepover with drinks, movies and relaxation?
I finished: A Rule Against Murder (#4), Louise Penny, 4* I enjoy the series and am trying to read them more closely together so I don't forget so much! The Black Jersey, Jorge Zepeda Paterson, 3* I did not find it to be the best written, but I love the Tour de France and a murder mystery, so I enjoyed reading it.
Currently reading: The Cookbook Collector, Allegra Goodman Small Victories, Anne Lamott (audiobook)
QOTW: I want a mid-June holiday centered on food (like Thanksgiving) to make a long weekend. Hopefully the weather would be nice and it would be a good season to have time off.

Simply Love by Mary Balogh - 3 Someone to Wed by Mary Balogh - 3 Slightly Married by Mary Balogh - 4 Chasing Space: An Astronaut's Story of Grit, Grace, and Second Chances by Leland Melvin - 4 The Lady from the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick by Mallory O'Meara (audio) - 4
I Wasn't Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse by Lee Gutkind (audio) - 4 The Good Luck Charm by Helena Hunting - 3
Currently reading: The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero. I also have whole bunch of easy romances loaded on my kindle because we're leaving for an AI vacation tomorrow! Yay for the Kids Club!
I’m reading A Beginning at the End by Mike Chen. I really loved his first book but this one isn’t working for me. I’ll finish it, I think, but it’s somewhat disappointing.
Qotw: let’s make Election Day a real holiday — no one has to work, everyone has after-voting parties, we organize volunteer transportation all over the place...
I just started Girls Burn Brighter for my IRL book club in March. I’ve been listening to the Swan Thieves for awhile. Axis 360 is being glitchy, so that’s been annoying.
Hmm, I need to think a bit on the QOTW
ETA: A holiday on a Wed where everyone gets the day off. I was thinking a get outside day, or a make something kind of day. No extended holiday creep.
This week I finished Junkyard Planet - Travels in the Billion-Dollar Trash Trade by Adam Minter. I never really thought about the globalization of recycled scrap metal, and now I can say that I have! I just started his other book, Secondhand - Travels in the New Global Garage Sale.
QOTW: In case you guys don’t know, February 5 is World Read Aloud Day (I had no idea). So let’s all celebrate that! 😊
tacokick what did you think of the show? We just finished it a few minutes ago. I liked it a lot even if the Likeness was seriously shortened and they made some changes. I'm wondering if they will do a second season and if so how, book wise. I noticed that they briefly introduced Holly which makes me think they plan to.
ally Rule Against Murder made me wish the place they were staying at was real. Although I doubt I could afford it if it was!

I'm reading The Secret Commonwealth. I'm glad that I just finished watching His Dark Materials on HBO because it's been ages since I read the original three Philip Pullman books. I'm not quite halfway yet.
QOTW: I like the idea of election day being a holiday. They're trying that here in Virginia but even that is stupidly political and ridiculously contested.

I don’t think they’ve announced if there will be a second season or not but I did notice Holly! I wonder if they’d just combine the two books Frank was in a lot vs keeping them in order.
I think I would have liked the show more if I hadn’t read the books. It was odd to mash them together that way. I think it would have been better to have half the season on his case and then the final episodes on her case even if they blended together the relationship/non work stuff. There are a lot of series where they don’t follow just one case the whole time so I think it would have worked. It seemed disjointed to have both going on at once. They were both major investigations!
I did enjoy it though. Reading the book again after 13 years and seeing the show has been interesting!
I finished Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris. I thought it was a really good book.
Also finished Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (I think). It was ok.
I'm listening to An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I think it's kind of an awful storyline, but for some reason it's sucking me in, too?
I'm starting reading The Alice network but I'm like 5 pages in so I have no opinion of it yet.
QOTW: I think election day should be a holiday too, but I think it should be enforced. Like, emergency personnel only. No big sales and other garbage that ends up taking over every other holiday. People should be given the time to go vote.

I read anonymous girl and it was terrible yet kept me reading. I remember getting to the end and wondering what I read and why lol.

That's funny you had the same experience! I'm almost kind of hate listening at this point, bummer it doesn't get any better! At least the pacing seems to be good?

I just looked back and I gave it 3 stars. It was fast paced and easy enough.
